Checke for power at sender, with no luck. which direction should I go next? The other guages in cluster work and all fuses are good.

What did you did to check for power? measure voltage across the two wires with the ignition on? dit you measure for voltage between one wire and body ground?

you can pull the instrument cluster and test the gauge. If the gauge checks out, I would check the gauge for voltage and check the wire between the gauge and the sending unit (yellow with red stripe) for continuity.

When I checked the ign. was in "on" position, but at the time I only had a simple test light so I was only able to check for a "hot" wire. Will do other processes (hope I spelled that right) tommorrow after dealing with my dist. issue.

If you used a test light in bright ambient conditions you may have missed the faint glow of the test light, as it is not getting a full 12v.

Also, you can check the largest portion of the sending unit wiring by locating the rear harness connector located in the kick panel. It's a quick place to see if a good ground connection near the dash gives you a positive result when testing for sender power.

My sender seems to have appropriate resistance between the terminals (rear of truck, access panel pulled).

My gauge doesn't register any voltage from terminal 1 to body ground as shown above. ? When turned on, it just barely raises above E. Resistance is about 30 ohms, instead of 55.

Seems like it's the gauge?

This diagram shows how power is routed to the level sensor, which is really just a variable resistor - the level sensor is the one above the water temp sender. The Voltage Regulator assy is actually the fuel gauge. The box with the switch is the Ignition switch.

Based off this wiring diagram, could someone putting an aftermarket temp gage in the truck cause the fuel gage to not work? I pulled my float and there is no corrosion, the terminals are clean, but I’m getting no power reading. May have to dive deeper into wiring than I was hoping to since I know nothing about that.
