My gauges confuse me sometimes...

Ok so, this has happened 3 times since I've owned my 62, not even a year yet, 2 while driving and the third with happened today, my temp and gas gauge go way up, then back down almost immediately. Whats going on?

You can try cleaning the contacts on the back of the fuel gauge. Check this thread:

Don't bother with the oem....get a set of mechanical gauges .

the fuel and the temp gauge share a resistor. this can act up intermittently. or fail completely
when it does it produces these readings.


It is a not uncommon problem.

Yeah, nothing bad going on. I just posted on the same thing a couple weeks ago. Almost everyone has dash gremlins of one kind or another. Take out the gauges and try cleaning the contacts, or get new ones. I haven't done either yet.

dont worry about it. mine have been that way for over a year now. I cleaned them once and it helped for a short time but overall your fine until you want to replace.
