Had to post pics since i love it and haven't seen a thread on it in a while. Thanks again Kevin for a GREAT high quality product... really really first class. This thing arrived packaged beautifully and went in very easily. I was able to put in almost everything i carry on a daily basis and emptied out the back of my truck. The dog will really appreciate it, and I love the clean look.

Again, first class... first class Kevin. Thanks!!!

and all of my recovery gear fits... and oil, and a tire plug kit, and my air hose, and my pressure guage... and... and... and... :)

I put mine on a couple of months back - love it! Can't wait for my side panels to be ready :D

Where can I get one?

Thanks Marco! That looks great.
Now, about those plywood side panels I see in your pics.......:D

Are congratulations in order yet Joel? 'Cause if they are, you wont be able to afford, or have time for, any side panels. :p
Glad the tailgate is working out well, there is a set of panels at the laser cutter for you.

Trapper50cal Just got my lid in yesterday...and on yesterday....those could literally be my pics you posted. My shots look identical, will post later.

Thanks Kevin!!!
Good news! After a long wait, a couple of moved spots in line and no shortage of complaining, you've got a lid of your own!

They look like an amazing product. I started building my own after shamelessly using his design. I have the section cut out and the frame made. Mine will not be near as nice but should still be functional. I even pack up the tailgate with gear yesterday just to see how much you can fit. Its alot. With this mod and the drawers I have more room than I know what to do with. Can't wait for the summer camping season.

i'd love to get the side panels from you... but mine are hiding a 12 inch sub with a 1.5 cubic foot box on one side, and a 300watt amp on the other....

I like my tunes.. but sometimes i wish for the storage space.

Any chance of this helping "strengthening" the tailgate? Always worried about bending the thing while loading...

Hell yeah! You should check out his build thread -- in some cases it actually brings the gate back into 'true'.

What, they come with stickers?? Guess I'll be unpacking mine soon, like when my rig gets back from the lift & alignment...

Yup, Dec 27th! My company gives me a month off paid so I have plenty of time right now to change diapers and work on the cruiser right now :D Plus my wife thinks the tailgate lid is great, she is excited to have even more junk tucked out of the way.

Now Kevin, notice I gave you prime window placement, and I don't have many stickers....;p
Nice! Right next to the TLCA, you've got me beat, still haven't put one on my truck. :p

And yes CJ, the newer stuff has been coming with stickers, your tailgate wont have any, but I put some in with the side panels (and some upgraded hardware for the tailgate to make up for the long delay :frown:) Now get that damn stuff installed already!!!!

Ah, everything is a compromise... I guess the plywood can be excused in this case (don't feel bad, I still have plywood side panels of sorts as well:cool:)
Not that I don't have enough to do already, but I've been working on a straight, non-opening side panel replacement made out of the same stuff as the lids for people in your situation, or those that don't want to make the step up to a full side panel set.

Post some pictures when you get it done! A couple of folks have made other versions of this, but I have yet to see them. This is the tech forum and I sure as hell don't own this idea, it would be cool to see what other people have been building.

DirtyLittleSecret Any chance of this helping "strengthening" the tailgate? Always worried about bending the thing while loading...
Yup, they are designed to be stronger than the OE tailgate, but thats not saying much since almost every tailgate I've seen has been caved in to one degree or another. Mine was severely caved in so I made the frame strong enough to pull it back to flat.
I actually just cut up a hundred series tailgate, and I have to say that Toyota fixed all those problems, what a little engineering marvel.
Got your email too btw, I'll get our name down.

Very big congratulations then! I'll try to get you a panel set before you have to head back to work, I think you are technically second down from the top of the revised list now. (waiting on the parts at the moment).

Toughf you bet.

If you check out the BT-60 thread you can see where I have been using the tailgate as a work bench on assembly and disassembly of parts, read big vice and hammers, on the lid itself:whoops: so far only minor scratchs that is one strong modification to the tailgate. LOL Doc. I don't recomend abuse as this but then I'm just strange to begin with.
