This is a bumper I just finished for a local cruiser head. The guys 62 is really clean and he didn't want to cut the rear crossmember and he already had a draw-tite style hitch. He also wanted the tire centered. The tire shown is a 35 but the carrier was built for a 33. I've been watching the threads on these bumpers and incorporated several tips on this one. The license plate mount is set up for a stock early 40 series license plate light. Fits and looks like it belongs there. I'll have him post some pics when he gets it painted and installed.

I like it and I want one. Can't wait to see it painted and out in the daylight.

Nice going, Toyrod! It is gonna look sweet on my '62! Thanks!

wow, that looks great. I like the hinge setup. Have any pics from underneath?

The bumper is mounted to the outside of the frame rails using the 2 rear holes from the original bumper brackets and the 2 rear holes from the rear body mount bracket. The mount/recovery points are made from 3/4 inch stock. The other bumpers I have built were inside the frame rails. This one was designed to minimize altering the vehicle. Hardware was 7/16 grade 8.

Got drawings?

No drawings, but I did take several photos when I put this one together. I'll try to pick a few out and post them here. Fairly simple setup.

Very nice! Sooo.... when does the production start?

These have been in production for a couple of years now. One last year for a local Cruiser guy. And this one.

Seriously though, I have a full time job and just build one every once in a while for local crusier heads.

That bumper is sweet! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the hardware for the latch and the pivot lock?? I want something similar for my bumper.

Latch is a DeStaco TC-341-R from reidsupply.com $39.00

Pivot lock (spring pin) was from MSC Industrial Supply, $14.00, catalog number 09300104

Pivot is a 1 inch trailer spindle. I turned the hub on a lathe out of 2 1/2 inch od by 1/2 tube. I bought 12 inches of that stock from a steel vendor online. It was around $40 shipped.

The bumper shell is 3/16 that was bent to my specs at the local metal shop. It is boxed back to the bumper mount on the spindle side.

Toyrod:

The bumper made it safely home atop the Jimmy. Now I have to get to work on painting it. I feel very privileged to have this bumper. It is well made. You went out of your way to make this thing nice for me. I am really humbled. Thanks very much.

Guys, this bumper a solid piece made by a first-rate Cruiserhead. I am very fortunate to know him.
