how do i get the "front" part of the back seat out? Thanks

Just did this last week.

1) The part your butt sits on : 4 bolts -2 on each side At the feet. Remove.

2a) The part your back touches : Also 4 bolts, at the hinge - 2 on each side.
2b) Unscrew the carpet surrond. Remove.

I took the bottom portion of my seat off to sand off the small amount of rust and paint it black.

I just pulled my seats out too. Thinking about pulling all the carpet and buying some rubber mats.

The vinyl diamondplate patterned floor mats (Tuff Tread Floor Liner) from SOR is great. It comes in four pieces (cargo, rear seat back, rear floor, front floor). Full set costs $300, worth every penny and is nice and thick. Item #s: 345-600 (cargo), 345-610 (rear seat back), 345-611 (front and passenger floor). Comes in gray or black.

A few words of caution: They come pre-marked for trimming. Put them down and THEN trim, I trimmed first and took a little bit too much off. Also, ignore the markings for trimming a hole for the shifter and t-case shifter, you'll need to take your time and do it precisely if you wish to have a good outcome.

Also, these will not provide the same sound dampening that the carpeting and carpet padding does, so consider installing a soundproofing layer, but know that it will make puncturing the Tuff Tread more likely.

dang thats nice...got more pic's?

Yes, but don't, every heavy item you put in there with sharp corners will puncture the vinyl, which is thick, but will rip/tear/puncture if what is behind it has too much play in it (like carpet). This stuff is designed to replace the carpet. Also, unless your carpet is immaculate or you live in the desert, it has mold or mildew in it. The stench that came up when I pulled the old carpet out of mine could have raised the dead. I actually had to stop and get fresh air a few times while doing this.

Tip from your Uncle Brian: Eliminate carpet from your house, your vehicle (and your body ;)/ :eek:/:whoops: ) whenever possible. All it does is trap dirt and odors. Yes, you heard me right, your balls stink, and I do not need first hand data to put my money on that!

WARNING, TMI post: If and when you meet me in person, know that I have a nice crew cut on my twig and berries. Hey, it's Florida and "Huey Lewis and The News" do not like to be all cooped up with a wool blanket. Not fully shaven, just clipped with a #1 or #2 guard. Now, go and gouge out your mind's eye...

I love bringing a perfectly respectable post to new lows with sophmoric discussion involving feces, testicles or otherwise typical male numor.

Dang...that's worth a quote.:censor:

X2 on the man-scaping...if she's gotta have it groomed, so should I.

back to thread- some of the industrial supply houses have the same stuff for much less, and you can trim it yourself to fit. worth the savings IMOP.

Ditto -- you can buy this stuff by the role for a mere fraction of what SOR is selling this kit for. Pick your width and split the roll with other mud members and you'll come out way ahead on the $$ front.

Please post the website if you can find this stuff cheaper. That would be great. Thanks.

Yeah, those pictures will be up later. Sorry. Yes, TMI was the point. I was in Sears and saw similar vinyl available in rolls, much cheaper, but not with the diamond plate pattern in it. I'd like to know where to get the same stuff Marv uses to make his. I will need to redo my front section when I install my H55F (maybe as early as this weekend). I eagerly await delivery from James.

Most of the manufacturers put a foam backing for "anti-fatigue" flooring in restaurant kitchens, etc. This might be good for additioanl soundproofing in vehicles, but, as said before, will make it more puncture prone. It is also more expensive and doesn't come in large rolls.

lots of thicknesses and both colors. BIG ROLLS!

This is a good one, but not sure of the color availability or thickness:

Lots of colors, including racing blue (but not sure about thickness):
