I know this won't be everyone's bag of chips, but someone asked if my gauge replacement kits could be modified to include a tach instead of the speedometer...

Yep.

As usual, guts are Autometer.

Are the speeds on the inside the speed in fourth gear? They almost look like it.

On the road that is usually the gear I spend the most time in.

Officer.....I was only going 3500 rpm

No, at the moment those are just the original markings. Yours is a good idea, would have to be custom for each tire size and axle ratio, but thats doable.

Speedo is simply removed, I'm thinking this is a trail truck sort of thing.

Met a guy +/- 15 years ago with a extreme 4x4 heeep (12 point cage etc) who only had a tach.... and no speedo. He ended up using this flying and jumping truck as a DD for a while.

Using the tach gave him a decent estimate of speed and helped to prevent speeding tickets.

It was a pretty neat truck for something that was once a Jeep.

eggzactly - speed is rarely the limiting factor for me, I almost always drive watching the tach and or pyro
