I don't think that is a stupid question at all, it can be either or both. I have 3 products for the 80 series.

1 - base rack & barrier complete system. So this is a barrier and the base rack which you can mount stuff on top and have drawers under the rack.

2 - base rack only

3 - barrier only. This is just the barrier only. Good for people whom have drawer systems already or like the rear of their truck as is but want the added safety and convenience of a barrier to keep stuff in the rear of the truck. Similar to the milford barriers for the 80's.

there is a bunch more info on the post link, let me know if anyone has other questions.

Looks like a good idea. price seems fair. I don't need one myself but I'm sure someone does.

I'd be interested in the base rack. I'm curious, does it make any noise while driving down the road? Nice product and the price seems right.

hey samsdad, no noise whatsoever, the thing is that the rack is bolted on top of the carpet and the rear cargo mat goes over that. Although the rack does not make any noise, there may be noise depending on what you bolt to it, but that is one of the nice things is that you can literally do whatever you want with the expanded metal and the holes that are provided. The drings that I sell might make some noise, but I have them installed and every once in awhile I hear one clink, but it does not bother me.

5 minutes, only 4 hand screw knobs hold it in, very easy.

for the cargo rack, so when the seats are folded down, it could be a spot to put an airbed? and could you make it so it has some kind of door/latch on the surface so you could get whats underneath?

yes, like the 80 series, if the seats fold down similar as the 80 series on the 100 series, it would be designed to be a sleeping platform. I could for sure figure out some kind of door/latch system if that is what you wanted, but it would be quoted custom.

Read through the thread and this looks like a great setup. I thought drawers would be great, but this is way sturdier and safer. If you are looking for a 100 in the area for measurements let me know. I'm in Poway so could easily meet you somewhere or drop the truck off as a test mule for ya. I do like the idea of using rounded off bolts though, would be slightly lower profile and wouldn't wear on the underside of the cargo mat. I can imagine after thousands of miles with stuff piled on the sharp edges it would eventually wear through.

great, sent you a pm, may take you up on that! good idea on the bolts, I agree, I could use some rounded head allen wrench bolts that would work well.

My guess - There is a lot of demand for these. Build it and they will come.

"Snag-free" Allen-head bolts are a good idea.

It looks like a very nice system. I could see a "window" in it being pretty handy for getting stuff out of the back while driving.

next time I am in southern california, I will meetup with you about the cargo rack as well. wna avoid shipping charges if possible so meetup is better:D

Thats a great product. I'm just up the coast from you, so if you need another test vehicle let me know. Is the floor mesh OK for a medium size dog (Doberman, 80 lbs, big feet) such that paws don't get caught in between the mesh?

You should get your intellectual property nailed down, slap a trademark on it, apply for a provisional patent, and take that product to the SEMA show. As an attorney for SEMA member clients, I can assure you there was nothing like that in this year's truck accessory hall on display.

Best of luck with it!

appreciate that, and yes, I plan to use rounded nice stainless steel allen head bolts. I plan to build these for 3 or 4 models of toyotas, build a website and then we will see.

sure, I agree, but in order to keep it cost effective I am going to keep the standard setup as is and as basic as possible. Some people may want some things and others may want something else. The nice thing is that each of these racks I build myself so I can make changes for you as you wish.

sure, I understand, just let me know when you are in the area. Keep in mind that if you have some friends in your area that want one as well, we could do a freight pallet and I think it would be more cost effective.

My lab is 110 pounds. I usually put a bed back there for him that he sits on. I don't think he would get hurt or anything with the mesh but it is just more comfortable for him. Powdercoating the mesh will help round the edges a bit as well.
