Traded: 1969 FJ-40 (TX)

Looks like I've got a good trade set up.

This is a super straight FJ40 that I was planning on building up, but now that the wife is pregnant again, it simply doesn't have enough seatbelts. So I'm looking for a solid FJ-55, 60 or 62 in comparable condition.

While the body on my FJ is creampuff, make no mistake it is by no means in great shape mechanically. It has a bastardized Chevy drivetrain--the TPI 350 has probably spun a bearing, the 700R4 leaks like all get out, and the t-case--we'll just call that special--it's mounted upside down to make it the correct side drop. The interior will need new seats, a cage, and a new carpet. At some point a cat has peed in it, at least that's what I think that smell is.

I'm completely new to the LandCruiser world, so I have no idea what this is worth. I'm going to put a price of $3500 on it, because I know what I paid for it, and then the motor let go, so I've deducted from there. If I'm terribly out of line, I'm sure I'll be politely informed....

This body is in GREAT shape, it's obviously a southern truck with no rust that I could find...

New pictures uploading to the album at pbase as we speak.

I really wanted to get some pics of the metal under the carpet, but unfortunately the carpet is glued in place, and I don't want to rip it out in case the new owner would rather keep the carpet. I did take pics underneath all the floorboards and back and there is no sign of rust anywhere. If it comes down to it and that picture is the difference between you buying or not, and you don't want the carpet in, I'll gladly rip it up. Not trying to mess anyone over here--there's a couple fairly respected guys on here that can vouch for my character I think.

Couple of sniffers, nothing firm though...anyone else?

Looks like I've got a good deal set up.

See you tomorrow bridges.

Thanks again mountainlander, it was great to meet you and your family. Thanks for your time this weekend on such short notice!

Made it home without any issues, here she is next to the new roommate about to be unloaded from the trailer...

If you ever head down this way give me a ring and keep me posted on the progress of your new ride too!

Yeah, great meeting you and your wife--my wife was saying she wished you'd had your son with you too, LOL.

I've been on the computer all afternoon putting together project ideas for the 60, LOL!

Well, screw both of you since I was considering both of these :flipoff2:

I am glad that it worked out for each of you. Michael, can't wait to show the wife the new 40 that she made me pass on!!

Sorry about that... :D:D Yep, gonna be a little while til I get her running, but as soon as I do it'll be at the meetings.

EDIT: Or even better, out on the trails.....
