3 day weekend so got some good work done. Feels like its going slow due to the time taken to fab all these custom brackets. Only a handfull more to go tho.

Radiator mounted.
brake pedal assembly mounted
engine/transmission skid

Flat-out gnarly planning, build/fab and progress man!!! Can't wait to see this thing wheel. Prog Bump!

Thanx man! Its alot of work...but alot of fun. I've been slacking on the updates. Got the fuel cell mounted, fuel pump, throttle pedal, power steering res, dash and the disco stick...more details on that with pics to come. Next big couple things to go are fab'n a front driveshaft carrier mount and then a bunch of aluminum sheetmetal work for the floor/firewall. After that its time to take it apart, fully seam weld and then send to paint.

made some big progress this weekend. Pretty much all of the major chassis components are mounted. I am now starting to fab the floor/firewall which should take some time.

few pics:

fuel cell mounted nice n low to keep that nice COG.

The disco stick. hydraulic cutting brake + pneumatic switch to activate the rear driveshaft disconnect. This will make dig maneuvers fast n easy.

Dash mounted up. Interior is pretty much ready except the shifter which is getting mounted to my AL floor/firewall assembly.

What did you use for the battery cut-off switch on the dash?
This thing is looking great!

Might wanna get a bigger fuel cell. I drink out of bigger containers than that.

I am sure he will check the tank before he goes wheeling
Before he goes wheeling? How bout during wheeling. He's gonna have to check a lot.

It's not a gas guzzlin 80 Chris!

welp.. I dont drive a heavy 80 so I dont think ill have to worry;) The samurai would use about 5-6gallons of gas driving from Boston to Gretchens, and 3 days of beating it.. So a 5 gallon cell will be plenty big for a trailer queen.

I saw that coming!

Nice work B.
Looks really well thought out.

You get a tow rig and trailer yet?

heh thanks. 2 years of thinking. and 4months of building

ugh..working on tow rig. Was just gonna get a new duramax. But found out cambridge doesnt want you to park anything in a residential area with a curb weight more than 2.5tons. So i'm keeping an eye out for an older Ford 7.3 that ill park elsewhere.

And if he does run out of gas he will pick it up and walk it out..

haha. guessing will be around same weight of the samurai. heavier drivetrain but the chassis is reaally small and light. Sits about a foot lower than the samurai. chassis is about as long as the zuk body but the wheelbase extends much further.

Have You though about running propane?

So this weekend I moved the crawler out of the shop. Everyone is getting kicked out so Tufts University can turn the building into offices..I got it mostly primed but ran outa paint(more coming). So end of the week I'll finish painting and then next week it will be time to assemble.

Ready for Kina's?
