The hardcore area will probably be available year round if you can deal with the snow. Snow would make it impossible to trailer in. The more moderate trails are closed during mud and snowmobile season. So Fall would work as would possibly other times. This place only opened up for access this year due to an offroad friendly owner that 2 of us ran into on an ENH run after everyone else had headed home.

Basically it is 100 acres on a hillside that was logged off. It's about 30 minutes from Concord NH and about the same from Gretchen's. So far there's a simple trail system that is harder than Gretchen's and a bunch of skidder trails that could be developed into a network. There's a lot of mud and some hillclimbing.

I survived Moose Mtn (sort of) and was even able to help get Ernie back out. I went out back at Kina's with a little help from my friends. I was done at this place after the first 200 yards. I need something more serious to go there again and bought it.

Larry,
Is this by the big swamp. If yes, we were going by this fall and the guy invited us in. Nice guy and some real tuff stuff, with some real interesting roads all around. We basically drove from Claremont to Heniker and used very little maintained roads.

Sounds like I'll take a look at the schedule and see what's available.
Thanks Larry.

No SNOW and dry rocks, lets get this party started. :flipoff2:

I vote to start this year earlier than normal, where shall we go?

I don't worry about the cold, Swanzey, lets break some trail. :D

I can find places to go if people want to do a run.
Won't be Swanzey for now .
I'm sure we'll learn more about Swanzey in the March meeting.

Any interest?

Just looking at the NEA site and Swanzey is booked up for every weekend for June thru August.
Guess we won't be going there this year.

People had asked for different property and some harder stuff.
Did my best to accommodate those requests.
Also I didn't feel like it was necessarily fair to other local clubs to gobble up Swanzey twice in prime wheeling season since we do get Swanzey for FG in September.

Not complaining : )

No problem here.
Just explaining why there's no Swanzey early in the season.

Looking forward to the upcoming year.

Why wait?

June, July and August are a long way off.

Lets do- March, April and May. :D

I like that area and I think we respect it more than a lot of the locals do.
There's plenty of activity and lots of land, but I vote for "KEEP OUR TRAILS CLEAN AND OPEN" with that said :D lets do it.

I'm pretty sure there is still a requested "No Go" by the NEA.
They are working with the Towns involved to keep the trails open.
There may be a process with the town before wheeling the properties but the NEA won't know till it meets with the town's selectmen.
That being said, I'm sure we'll have more concrete answers in March after the NEA meeting.

Need something clarified. Is the Fall Gathering a 4 day event now? What I mean is. Is there's trail rides from thusday to sunday? The dates are sept 27-30

No, it's trail rides Fri-Sunday.
Though Coal mine is now a 4 day.

Any idea yet as to how much for the Overland Experts course in April. Also is it a total coat for two days or is there an option for just a one day class?

I ran Wayne's World yesterday in Antrim, NH on the NEA Snow Run. There were only 2 of us from YT. Martin in his Sammy and me in the FJC. Martin had serious mechanical carnage on the first real obstacle on one of the hardcore trails. I had the only real Toyota there (sorry Martin). It was mostly trailered rigs including one that placed in the Johnson Valley race last year. The one stock Rubicon left after the first 1/2 mile, but I toughed it out and got in 2.5 miles. The run wasn't really set up for less modified rigs like mine since they cancelled the Class 6 run do to the lack of wimps willing to put up their hands. My rock rails are rubbed raw on both sides, but I didn't break anything and only winched 3 times.

It is probably available fairly often on the NEA schedule and only about 15-20 minutes from Gretchens.
I think there are many YT members who could have had some fun there. There's primitive (no facility) camping on site. Maybe we could reserve that early during Mud Season?

It is really only trail rides Friday and Saturday since the club doesn't actually line up for any runs on Sunday since I have been attending. Sunday seems to be departure day except for the few who want to go out back at Gretchen's to run those trails on their own.

I see little reason we can't add another day on the front end, Thursday. That would make it potentially a full 3 day event of organized rides.

Any thoughts?

Wayne's world is privately owned and not an NEA property.
In order to obtain usage of the land your club needs to have land to trade to the club that either owns it or manages it.

Lack of volunteers is always a problem. We can't get enough trail leaders for Friday and Saturday.

Well, we paid $30 per person to wheel there, including passengers. Maybe that was enough for whichever club owns it to free it up? It was advertised as an NEA run and i signed an NEA waiver and got an NEA sticker. Does NEA own property that it would trade the use of to that club, or were they just being accommodating?

We have to pay a fee to use Gretchen's, so why couldn't we pay to use Wayne's World? Might be a change of pace for some of the hardcore folks. There were folks there from all over New England, NY and NJ. Kind of a trek for a one day event for many folks, but it might be worth it to get out during the offseason.
