Just getting back into the Greensboro area after being away for awhile and I'm looking for someone to work on my 100 series and I'm looking for someone that has significant experience with LC's, not just some import shop. The work is mostly mechanical - drivetrain, brakes, some mods. Is there anyone in the Triad area that you guys are using? Anyone used Webster's Imports? I checked the mechanics threads on Mud and found some guys in Charlotte and one in Raleigh, but not really that convincing. If no one can refer a great LC mechanic, then I will run it up to IronPig or down the LexTech I guess. Let me know, thanks.

Canuck's Cruisers in Raeford, NC. Darin is the man, with 20+ years of experience with various Land Cruisers.

Welcome back...........Im in greensboro as well

Ive used websters before. Roger is a good guy and I would trust their team for something outside my capabilities or if in a bind time wise. But I wouldnt say they have any cruiser specific knowledge or skill sets.

Darin (canucks cruisers) would be a good contact to try for sure with lots of experience on lots of models
Toys Unlimited might be closest down towards liberty
toyotatechs in fort mill has gotten good reviews with this crowd
theres a rovershop in cary someone may chime in with the name of but obviously you know his specialty is electronics :D

Thanks for the welcome back and info. I contacted Canuck, but I have not heard back yet, probably just busy. I don't have a garage or access to a garage, so self-performing most of this is not an option for me. I'm over in the Battleground area. Let's grab a  some time.

Definitely! there are a few of us around the area.... i will be renewing efforts to get them out on a more regular basis next year. stay tuned

Your handle looks familiar. Did you just pick up your 100 or just switch from an 80?

also depending on Darin's availabliity if your looking up to 5 hrs away with the IPOR and Lextech then ACC would be in my list of considerations as well; esp if you could couple it with a trip to atlanta for other reasons

I had an 80 among some other LC models and just picked up a 100. I joined ONSC's back in late 2010, but I ended up selling my 80 and never made any trips.

Finally heard back from Canuck and he said that he doesn't really handle newer models, so I guess I will be looking for another option. I have some friends in Charleston and in Virginia - probably take one of those options to avoid the hotel stay.

Another option is we have two toyota dealers that sponsor us. Scott Clark in Charlotte and Fred Anderson in Raleigh.

I do believe that Scott Clark will give us a large discount on work done there but i'd have to check that.... I think Fred Anderson is the same.

Something newer like a 100 series is something i'd be fine taking to a dealer to work on.... its the older models that are more likely to need a specialist.

I will give them a call to compare prices. Thanks.

My issue is working on them for someone when i have not really worked on one before. My specialty is from 1997 back to the 1960's.

I completely understand. I often find myself wishing I still had the 80 or 40. They were so easy to work on.

I believe the deal with Fred Anderson is on parts alone, nothing on labor...

Could be. Scott Clark may be the same but it never hurts to call and ask. As long as you are a paid member they will work with you

Is there a contact person at either Toyota place. Most of the time when I mention IH8MUD or some Cruiser club to a service person or any Toyota personnel in general I get silence, or blank stares.

Which dealership are you going to?

If you are a current ONSC member, then you should just need to tell them that you are a member of Olde North State Cruisers.

Probably Raleigh since it's a little closer, but thought I'd give them both a call to compare $

I doubt I'm current. Who handles that and how can I find out?

Johnny (GLTHFJ60) is the membership coordinator, so he'll be able to tell you. I called Fred Anderson Toyota last week and was told that Chris, our contact, was no longer there. The guy that answered suggested that there really wasn't a discount club, which is strange, since many of us have received discounts. To be honest, I didn't read back through all of this thread, so I'm not sure what you are looking for, but Phil's Toy Store in Cary is a good resource and there is a place in N. Raleigh called Scott's One Stop that may be able to help you out.
