Hey guys,

I'm planning on taking a trip to Yosemite and wanted to get opinions on which trails are good for moderate wheeling as well as good campsites.. preferably something close to a stream. I know that Yosemite does not allow off road camping.. I'm still researching on the web as well as mud to find out which ones are the good spots.. I'm leaving this friday so it would be great to hear all your opinions...

thanks much

Not sure wheeling, I'd love to visit as well.

Maybe some details on your truck (lift, armor, year, etc) so others can chime in better :)

Have a great trip :D

here is my favorite, yosemite valley via clouds rest , 19 mile hike 2-3 days nice hike, starts at tenaya lake and ends in the valley, nice camp areas to, mostly downhill 3500 ft loss of altitude.follows tenaya creek...really beautiful, passes half dome at the end, half dome has a great hike as well can be done in 12 hours but is extreme. usually takes two days. Yosemite is beautiful in the summer, was there last in 06, no other place like it. wish i lived in california just for the beautiful parks there.

fajjas80,

If you're interested, my folks have a vacation rental a bit outside Yosemite (in Groveland). If you PM me your dates and it's open, I can hook you up.

There's some nice wheeling trails north of Yosemite, in the Tahoe area. I've not found any wheeling trails around Yosemite, too touristy for that.

Now snow wheeling in Yosemite, they got that in spades.

There are no wheeling roads in the park.Campgrounds are always full in the park in the summer you have to get there early for a site. There are some roads outside the park for wheeling on national park land and you can find places to camp in campgrounds and other places along these roads. You need a campfire permit for a fire outside of a campground. Also depends on which way you are going into park.

At the east interance at LeeVining there is a ton of trails. Thousands of miles of gravel and two track and a few class 3+ trails. I don't know where you are comming from or heading to. If that area in along the way it will be worth it. If you head south on 395 to Mammoth Lakes down through Crawley Lake and into Bishop there is a ton of offroading. I grew up in Crawley Lake. I know that I havn't even come close to seeing all the country roads. I spent my first 34 years in Crowley, hunting, fishing, camping, wheeling, atving, and riding motorcycles and horses there. If that is something you may be interested in, feel free to give me a call. Phil @ 208 899 3803 I'll be glad to turn you in the right direction.

Thanks guys
