How you didn't go with 3/4" thick instead
I believe if your shocks are only going to be doing shock stuff and you have everything setup correctly so the shocks are not expected to be bump stops or limit straps then the factory mount is more than enough. If you plan to use your shock as a bump stop or anything else that will see high forces then I would build a double shear lower mount, all of these tabs are 3/8” only because that was the thickness I was cutting at the time.

Thanks for those, I had the lower pic for reference but not the one with shock installed...I see clearly now.

I matched my stock tab of 3/8” thickness and wanted to drill the correct sized hole before welding. I saw there were some fancy stepped shock studs with 1/2” mounting from Speedway , I was overthinking it.

Bolt.

Next.

I guess the shock mounts are ready to weld on
If you’re going to run shocks with misalignment washers like Fox or King you might want to offset those mounts off center to the rear.

It’s been awhile but I believe the front face of mine are on centerline or 3/16” off center to the rear if that makes sense.

Jeez another week gone, I’d did slip in the shop briefly today and throw the one side together enough to look at clearances, going to place shock to rear of tab as it won’t fight with steering arm back there.

BUMP for updates
No patience / attention right now, focused on keeping our 80 families fed at work through this slow season and still picking away at the basement fit out with the kids...

Yes lame.

I did actually wake up Monday dreaming about the Pig, it’s always on my mind. Watching you I just know I’m going to be fighting off an LS swap once your running too :flipoff2:

Did enough of a dung-out on the shop yesterday to start in on some progress today.

Nothing huge, just filling the shop with rust-dust...

Also drilled & tapped some broken bolts on the front axle housing.

So early this week I stopped by the glass & uphostery shop, he sent me home with a roll and said bring the seats in next month (he has two full interiors ahead of me)

Busy out at the shop all day today, slowly killing one of the grinders...

Almost ready to start heading the other direction on the front housing, assembly.

Son was outside after dinner, so he was helping me stuff the spiders back in my rear 55 3rd which will now be front 3rd in the 62 housing.

Which brings a question, is this sleeve all that’s different between a front & rear 3rd?

For my '77 pig they have the same part number: 41110-60015 so I assume there is no difference. Gaskets are same part number as well.
