Nope, between the big trip and the load at work when I got back it’s been zero shop time :frown:

Not helping is I had all the remaining lumber delivered for the basement framing, daughter is getting pushy lol
- at least she will be helping with it, only 14 but not scared to help frame with the saws and coil nailer etc.

Today is hot and perfect out though so it’s beers on the deck with friends...after all the isolating this year it’s great to hang out a bit.

Life update, one that will put pressure on me to get the pig outta the shop.

Our boy drove his first car home today, it’s a big deal with any first car, but a really BIG deal when you buy one of these...

Big Ole Mercury with the Breezeway rear window 😎. Awesome 1st car. Hopefully gas dont go up. 390 or 410????
390 but only 2bbl
Man, that's a tank! I always loved that rear window. 👍 He'll be the coolest kid on the school parking lot.
Have not showed it to a single person who didn’t love the fact a 16yo kid in 2020 wanted a grampa car, it was pretty neat just cruising it home...it definitely feels like 4000lbs of couch floating over the road.
That thing is in pretty amazing condition! How many ash-trays does it have?
All of them! :smokin:

At least 4 I think.

My son’s first car was his grandmother’s pristine ‘79 Olds Calais coupe. He was pretty proud it stood out among the sea of Civics and Corollas in the HS parking lot. Still has his Subaru key on the leather fob from the Olds dealership.

A simple (dumb) question, making my front shock mount tabs for the 62 axle...what do you use for a shock bolt, or stud ?

Cheers

Nice first ride!!!
Tell your son he’s got my vote.

2 for the bolt. Toyota used a flat-head bolt with a larger shank and smaller diameter threaded section, welded to the back side of the mount (FJ55’s). Dave G. (and others I’m sure) use 5/8” (16mm) bolts with lock-nuts on hardware that includes a shock mount. I can only guess Toyota did it that way to prevent people from over-tightening the retaining nut.
