I want to hide the body. Orignally, was going to mount the main radio body under the seat. Looks like it will be a no go. Then read up about the little space under the shifter console. I don't think that will work radio body is too big.

So options now are rear of the truck, power leads will be super long or in the center console. As short as this truck is in space it may need to eat up major space in the center console or underneath the dash on the passenger side. I will also need to mount the bluetooth serial dongle for APRSDROID, but that will be simple.

So the question where the hell is everyone mounting their radio bodies for their ICOMs and suck?

I don't have an answer for you on mounting location but would like to follow this thread along to see what others say.
Also, what are you using for an antenna and mount? I snapped my Comet on a tree limb and dont want to make that mistake again.

For antenna mounts looking at driver fender or a Diamond motorized with a custom off set mount for the roof rack. I am reserving the driver rear hatch for the Wilson Flexi/MFJ1610. Haven't figured out the details need to get the radio in first. For the face, I am looking at BenCC's roof console 3d print mount.

I have a Larsen 2/70b and its taken a beating on the nmo center of the Suburban. Its bent about 5-15 degrees backwards at the coil.

Where was your equipment mounted?

The burb has so much more space to work with. Enough for me to create a custom enclosure, mount a Cheap swr meter for the AT 6666, The FTM400 body, the power feeds, 8 port anderson distribution box, 2 speakers (Mls-200 and a bearcat), a 8 port usb hub. The LC not so much space to. work with.

I was actually asking where did you have the Comet Mounted? Center of the roof?

I have a icom 2730a radio body mounted under the front passenger seat. How come under the seat is no-go for you?

I have replaced the head unit and bypassed the stock radio amp, so I removed the radio amp from underneath the passenger seat. The amp was mounted to the floor of the cab with some brackets. I drilled a few holes in the brackets and mounted the radio body to those factory brackets. I then bolted the radio body back to where the factory amp was bolted.

Just looked under the passenger seat. I plan on retaining the amp, doesn't look like there will be enough space for both. I might have to go the glove box or center box route.

Too bad there isn't enough space under the driver seat. Ideally, that is where I'd put it.

I put the body in the center console. I used velcro on the mounting bracket to stick it to the bottom of the console area. I drilled a hole into the center console from underneath the cup holder. I made something of a new bottom for the center console using kydex, so I could still put things in there and not have stuff right on top of the radio. I didn’t see a good spot under the seats either.

I mounted the face near the shifter using a ram mount.

Down side of using the center console is that it muffled the speaker. I guess you can use an external speaker, I haven’t. I open the center console if I can’t hear it well enough.

If I had to do it again I might spend more time trying to get it mounted under the passenger seat, even if I had to make a bracket. I don’t know if it’s possible though, since I didn’t do it.

I have an Icom 2820 that I've mounted to the right side of the transmission tunnel along with a 12v/110v inverter. My wife hasn't complained, so I guess it's working out okay. I used to have it under the shifter console, but was worried about heat, so moved it.
