We discussed at the meeting the possibility of donating to a charity this year. My wife is working with a friend to help an orphanage in LA fill it's Xmas list. These kids aren't asking for much. We are covering a couple of the kids needs but there are a couple of big ticket items they actually need.
One kid needs a bike ( so he can get to work) with a good lock.
Another kid would like an electric scooter to get to work.
These kids are in their teens and are basically homeless and supporting themselves.

What do you guys think about the club covering one or both of these ?

I haven't been to a meeting yet...got my 40 in March so COVID has kind of gotten in the way. But it sounds like a great cause and I would be willing to chip in $50 as well.

Not sure how much the club typically spends on hosting the Christmas party and the giveaway goodies for that party, but as it seems unlikely that such a party will happen this year, using that money, perhaps along with additional donations from members would be a good thing to do.

We need about 500-600 for the one guy. Haven't researched electric scooters yet for the other.

I love the idea of helping those in need. I would like to use some money to assist Toys for tots programs as many of those are going to be greatly affected by the Covid becauseof lack of toy drives as they are getting cancelled left and right. I would like to propose a meet in the middle … take say $400 to @Phulcrum project, use $200 for toys and then $200 for run supplies for the Christmas run. That is about half of our funds which I would like to leave about $1000 in the bank to cover anything that comes up. Yes we have dues coming in the near future but don't want to over extend us. If you would like to put extra towards the awesome cause of @Phulcrum our Venmo is Beach-NToys and Paypal is @BeachNToys. Any money that comes in with the earmarked or comment for his project will go that way. What does everyone think??

Got the funds and ear marked!

I am down.

Awesome @bauers thank you guys! I'll put in $50 as well.

I reserved the bike. Last one that fits his needs in SD as far as I can tell. Jeff, can you PayPal me the funds today or tomorrow? I am getting it with a lock and maintenance kit tomorrow morning.
Bike was $600. I put $100 in.

All funds for the @Phulcrum have been sent to him and he has the bike... as for Toys for Tots, waiting to hear back from them on a few things and this one popped up from the local and SDSO.... I can get toys to this one as well. I'm in for what the team likes. The PDF says its SDSO and VFD is all.

Just talked with Toys for Tots and they are 100% money to toys. The local one is the same. So if you want me to split the money I can just need some direction for the members.

I am down to support.

Caleb got his bike last night. He was VERY thankful. Thanks to all who helped!
