1. Remove Dust Cover
2. Remove Stock Bulb
3. Assemble Ballast / Bulb / As per the instructions - Ensure arrows on bulb to ballast connection are aligned, ensure that you reverse the polarity on the connector with the + - on it. Black is - White is + so - > Black to + White to - else lights will not work,
4. Bend the fins tightly into a U so that the tip of the fins are facing the tip of the bulbs and FULLY insert, ensure the fins are not hitting the headlight assembly else the bulb will not lock. Notice that one latch is larger, align with the housing.
5. Twist to lock.
6. On the bottom left of the light housing there is plenty of space to store the ballast and its wires. Tuck them in there
7 .Close dust covers.

Nice write-up! Do you have some before/after pic's?

I will post some shortly , however from the stock halogens to the Pro LED’s the difference is huge. I would say 3 to 4x brighter AND much better beam pattern. I also opened the housing after driving for about 3 hours with the lights on and the fins were not even warm.

Do you see any issues with them running so hot? Anything (plastics/polymers) around that could melt and cause a short?

So I drove last night for 3 hours with the lights on, as soon as I got home I opened the dust covers, touched the fins, and they were cool to the touch. Also I called XD and they confirmed that running the driver inside the housing is not an issue. A lot of costumers run theirs like this.

My apologies, I read your original post wrong, I read it as after 3 hours of driving, they were "...super hot..." instead of "... super not..."
Getting old...:crybaby:

Thanks for your feedback. I need to get new bulbs yesterday.

I upgraded to my ‘12 GX from a 96 4Runner - having better light output was high on the list of improvements I was looking forward to. Imagine my dismay when I drove the halogen equipped GX at night for the first time. The lights in my 25 year old 4Runner may have had the edge. Luckily the guy I bought it from did LED fogs.

Here is an interesting video comparing HID vs LED on a tacoma projector headlight, very interesting results. Summary, in a projector headlight a quality LED KIT is BRIGHTER than a 55W Xenon HID kit.

Well, it looks like the GTR Lighting Ultra 2 are the ones for both high and low beams.
(sorry for the spoiler if you haven't seen the video yet)
BUT... What model is used in the pre and post 2013 GX 460's??
Is there a model LED of these GTR bulbs for our rigs?
Also, does anyone know if it's plug-n-play? Just pulling our the factory bulb and installing the LED.

They are plug and play as long as you get the correct bulb type. For example, the one in our low beams are H11 and the xenon depot LED's that I have on them are H11's so it was a straight swap, everything fits right in.

Are you referring to the GTR Lighting Ultra 2 bulbs? They tested as the brightest, so I wouldn't want to go with anything else.
Maybe a link if you have one for both the low and high beams. ;)

Here is a shot showing the XD LEDs
