so my cruiser is starting to flow....looks like leaking from the rear main, tranny, front linkages are clunking..bad alt regulator....176k miles....shes in good shape, but gonna need some work...should I look for a newer 80 before i start dumping money into it?

It's really up to you. You couldn't sell a 92 in bad shape for very much so I say fix it, throw in some lockers while you are at it.

It depends on how long you've had the truck, how well you know its history, and your needs from the truck:
-If you arent looking to Upgrade then i would keep it do the things you need to have done and keep on going. You probably know the history or at least all the work you've put into it. No matter what you buy you will end up spending money on the new truck for things you didnt account for i promise you that and at the end of the day you still may have to spend more. even if someone hands you the history you dont know how they really drove it or didnt drive it or maintained it while they owned it. Its painfull to drop a big bill on a truck but if it means you know that truck is going to get you from start to finish safely then you will have much more peace of mind.

-if you are looking for some of the more modern features in newer trucks then sell it or offer it up for Trade maybe. If it needs alot of work then you might not get as much as you hope. The rear main is a tough fix for a weekend warrior but for a mechanic its not that bad. It can be pricey though because they have to do alot of labor to get to it.

Thats my .02cents

thanx guys,
when i got her this year the car fax was pretty decent, i think she was fairly well maintained, then sat rarely used till i got her...i figure at 176k perhaps i should dig out the engine and do it all...and stay on top of it...i havent got the funding to take her to a shop, but i have the skills and most of the tools (minus engine hoist or tranny jack) but may be able to borrow some...my old LC musta rolled 350k with me throwing bandaids at her....so i figure if i stay on top of this one she will last longer than I will...

who are the best places to order the major overhaul kits from...?
and anyone in the charlotte matthews area want to get greasy?

I figured if I take the time to really tighten it all up ....fix all the leaks, and she will be good as new...just in time for the end of the world...
i will have to dive under it with a camera to pinpoint the wetspots...

sell it to me, or trade me for my 04 heep grand cherokee... haha

Haven't you found one yet.... someone posted up a pretty sweet 92 for around 5k in the for sale section.

yeah, I need to sell my jeep first... I dont need 4 vehicles and still be living with my parents

haha yeah man, I'm tryint to pull the trigger on a foreclosed house in mebane, but i keep seeing bills stack up as soon as i shoot.
