I'm looking for a 2F 4sp FJ55 or a mid to late 80s 4cyl manual 4Runner. I'm looking for something 3000 and below. It doesn't have to look great or have low miles. Just has to run and not be rusted to s##t.

If I do the 4runner, yes. If I do the 55, no.

Yes as a matter of fact on both accounts..i do have fat fingers and I thought WTD meant wanted...guess I was wrong..didnt know u were the official abbreviation police.

I am not...just bored so it was an easy target. :D :D Glad to see you are possibly going to be back in some wheels sooner than expected. What happened to the 4Runner you traded with dad over your 40?

I still have the 95 4Runner, its my DD (daily driver). He is fixing all the things I broke, haha. I saved up some money and want something I can either take to school to fix or do on my own, mostly as a learning experience but also gives me a excuse to take off work from walmart and see u guys.

There is a couple of really nice early 4runners here for $4000 or less. Want me to bring one back.:) J/K

I did see a nice SAS 4runner with the 22RE, 5speed, dual cases, etc. for $4500 in Arizona. Might be worth looking into shipping a built rig as most of these older Yotas on the east coast are going to have rust issues. The sheetmetal on these trucks were awefully thin from 79'-on.

All those sound nice but I want to do some of that stuff myself so I can learn and I'm pretty stuck on 3000 grand. I'm not in a real hurry to find one either.

Well if your budget is 3000 grand I can find you plenty of 4runners under 3 million.:D Just kidding.

I understand that you want to do a lot of that yourself, but the market for modified rigs are drop bottom right now. You can get a built rig for pennies of what it would cost for you to do most of it yourself. You could probably find a 4runner that has had over $5k worth of work done in the past 5 years and he might get $1000 back out of it if they are lucky. 2 years ago they would have gotten 90% of that back.

Budgets suck, but for $3k you should be able to find what you want.

Yes u are right on all accounts but I'm really holding out for a FJ55. I'm looking at one in colorado for 2000 with a 2F, 4speed. so far all it needs is a t-case and maybe a driveshaft. A fellow mud member out there is going to look at it for me next week sometime.

you know that you can wheel an FJ55....just keep it on the mild trails. Dont have to wheel it like IPOR does their 55....LOL

what about that one Glenn has at shop...are the owners still going to do anything with it...it might be good project vehicle?

I would think a 55 would out perform a similarly modified 4runner or 60 anyday. They are as wide as a 40, but the wheelbase of a 60 or Heep Scrambler. Once you protect the rear end and rockers from damage it should be fine. The narrow width actually allows it to go most places a pickup or 4runner would go, only with the SFA and strong motor/tranny of a 40/60.

I figured the no wheeling was more because they are too nice to smash on the trail, or you wanted something stock looking and collectable.

IPOR does have a sweet 55. They have a sweet 40 too that I see was at GSMTR. Wish I could have made it.

Yea I've seen IPOR, its BA. I want the 4Runner to wheel and the 55 more as a collectors item. I just need to save a oil more money and I'm good.

That "sweet40" was actually an 80 with a 40 tub. 80 MPH down the hwy. nice ride.

I appreciate u looking Jeremy but I'm not big on the V6 and I'm pretty sure I definitely want a 55 now.

Thats funny you say that because that's what I'm actually doing
Stud is too nice for me plus I want a 2F and a 4speed
