hmmm...michelle's stepfather was thinking of getting a new one, he has a small diesel with a loader. Thing is cherry, he just wants a bigger one.

It's for my brother-in-law who has a lot of clear cutting in his future. Major problem with ticks on the property, indoor/outdoor pets, three maniac kids, and a case of Bells Palsy. Good motivation to slash & burn.

LOL! My fault. I mentioned to Ran I was thinking about getting a small tractor and gadget boy got all excited to help. He's just looking for a comeback when I innocently say "Do you really think you need a 600HP big block in the troopy? Maybe you should just fix the head gasket." I know it sounds convoluted, but there you have it. He is one coniving SOB.
Anyway, I really am thinking about a compact tractor with a loader. Doesn't need to be a Kubota. Should be one step or so up from the uber-garden tractor size.

Dang, just tryin' to help a brutha out!
I'd prefer opportunistic as opposed to coniving, but whatever. For the record, I never mentioned 600hp or big block...now did I. Besides, 600hp would require wheelie bars which would suck for departure angles.

I would not mind selling my Kabota. It is an L series with 28hp. Comes w/ auto tranny, loader and york rake. Only has about 60 hours of use. I will sell it for 17k new is 20k. I want to sell it and get a full sized backhoe. It might be a little bit bigger then you are looking for though.

If the experience of my neighbor's hold true, go to the tractor place, find the tractor you want, the one you can't imagine ever needing a bigger one... then buy the next biggest size up.

Awesome machine. Too big for my purposes. Thanks, though. I am looking for one of those pansy-ass compact tractors suitable for a couple acres in suburban Boston. I do have neighbors with the big ones, but they also have a lot more land.
As much as I would want one of thos in my yard, I am not sure I could get it past THE CONTROLLER.

Albee-That will work out perfectly, so that you can clear my back 2 acres. When can I expect you over?
I am just planning ahead. It looks like my wife is going to make me build her another house in the Burlington area. This time I plan to do the road, septic and foundation myself. Clearing an extra two acres should not be a problem, even with my tractor.
As far s tractor buying goes, I would recomend checking out Petrowsky Auctioneers, Inc. They have been having heavy equip auctions every couple of weeks. Next one is Nov 1st in Amesbury, MA. Another on Nov 14th featuring contractor and landscape liqudations. The auctions are mostly heavy equip, but they usally have a few ag tractors and lots of attactments. In this economy this is the best way to buy equip right now.
