Sorry mate, I have one but am kind of fond of it. If it helps I was looking for about 12 months before I got what I needed. I ended up getting a complete setup from a FJ40 and a BJ73 to combine to have what I required.

Good luck in the search and if I see anything I will let you know

Thank you for the help. Which parts did you utilize off each vehicle ?

Anything but the engine specific stuff should work from the same series 'Cruiser. You'll need the 3B compressor mount, idler and crank pulley. You will also need to find a diesel A/C amplifier (the little brain that works the A/C).

I did an A/C install on my BJ60 using everything from an FJ60 except for the stuff mentioned above. I found someone who wanted to get rid of the A/C and we worked out a trade of A/C parts for non-A/C parts plus cash. The 3B stuff is VERY hard to find. A decent A/C shop can probably make something work if you can't find the amplifier. I had to have the shop do that with the '55 (will also happen with the 45LV) as there is no diesel version available that I am aware of.

I'd check with G&S or SOR. I've gotten A/C bits for the 3B from both of them. You may need a picture for SOR as they don't deal alot with 3B's though (at least I needed a photo when I was looking last year). I got the best prices at SOR.

I bet if you called every wrecker in Canada/USA you would not find 3B A/C parts separately!! You MIGHT find A/C parts for a BJ60 at Interior Auto Wrecking in Vernon, B.C. Canada but I can't recommend them unless your pockets are deep and you like to be raped (they buy ALL wrecked Land Cruisers they can in B.C. and they KNOW what they have)!!!

Well, I found the 3B compressor mount and idler/crank pulley at SOR. Now I just need the:

compressor
diesel a/c amplifier
condenser
evaporator
vents

Any parts I've missed ? Thank you for looking :) I'm in California....wish I still lived in Australia.

Can anyone tell me which parts specifically can be taken from an FJ40 and put into the BJ42 ?

Everything on the list but the diesel amplifier can be had from an FJ40 of similar vintage! The compressor may or may not work depending on the mounting. I had the compressor from the FJ60 but the compressor was bad. A compressor for the BJ60 was quoted as big dollars so I went scrounging wreckers and found that late '80's Acura's used the same compressor so I ordered one of those for significantly less (it's the SAME thing!?!).

Since you have an '82 you should check the engine crank pulley to ensure it is capable of mounting additional pulleys. If you have six bolt holes in the crank pulley you're good to go, if not you need another later model crank pulley as well. If you have factory P/S you'll have the right pulley.

the compressor from an FJ62 will work - assuming your mount and pulleys are the same as a 13B-T (I think they are). The hose connections might be different, but you can swap them between different denso compressors.

Others have used the amplifier from a 62 series in their diesel conversions in FJ60 so maybe you could get somehere with that. Good luck

The problem with the gasser amplifiers, at least the ones I've seen which is the FJ55 and FJ60, is that they need a coil signal to operate and last I checked there isn't a diesel that can provide that!! A decent A/C shop can create a control system though if that is all that is holding you up (that was done on the FJ55 and it works well).

There is more than one thread on here where posters have claimed that they were able to use the FJ62 amplifier in an FJ60 when converting to 1HZ. I believe the signal goes through the ECU on the 3FE not directly from the coil. Might be worth it for the OP to research this as an option.

Entirely possible, that's why I qualified FJ55 and FJ60 amplifiers don't work. I have not tried an FJ62 amplifier as I found a diesel one for my BJ60 and the FJ55 was done by the A/C shop. I may have to try that with the FJ45LV.

I skipped the oem amplifier.

I simply wired a on/off button to the compressor.

I then installed an additional inline switch, that shuts the compressor off, if the pressure gets to high.

The switch was $20 at the local ac shop.
