OK, I'm a little pissed. Today was to be my day to install my rebuilt tranny/transfer. Flywheel machine done, clutch kit in hand, tranny jack rented, all ready to go....

Except...the rear main seal which I picked up at the local dealer is too small. Diameter is ~ 1/4" too small.

Part number of the rear main I have in hand is: 90311-95002

From a post on mud, it appears the correct RMS is: 90311-99001

Can anybody confirm please? It's an 87 fj60, build date Aug 86. Aren't all RMS on 2F's the same?

Did I say I am pissed? Got the day free just to finish up this project. Sheesh.

It's a good idea to have your vin# on a piece of paper in your wallet when you order certain parts.

I can't confirm the numbers but both part numbers you gave both come up as type T seals, the latter costs a couple more dollars.

That is too bad. I don't know the part #s either, but I know the 2F and the 3FE have a different rear main, so maybe yours is from a later truck. Yet another reason to deal with Cruiserdan.

Did a search and that part # looks like a rear main for a 12H-T. You should be so lucky.

Thanks guys! Too bad that seal didn't fit...would be cool to wake up and find out my truck grew a diesel overnight!
