Hey guys! I'm in Encinitas for the next two weeks and wondered if anyone wants to help me do a few small service things on my 1994 FZJ80.

Of course, Beer will be provided. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but the tasks I have to do involve timing, which I have never done on this engine and I would prefer to have someone with experience with these engines nearby.

Planned services:
Replace O ring on Distributor
Replace Head Cover gasket
Check/Set Timing

Let me know what works for you and I will come to you or we can do it here!

Thanks!

Kraig

I can help with timing and o-ring. Thoes are both very easy and quick. I don't have time to do a valve cover gasket. Send me a pm.

I actually did a tune up, belt change and fuel system clean up today, tightened up a few hose clamps and will check to see if I get seepage from anywhere. when I pulled the cap, I didn't see any leakage and didn't feel any so I think it may be fine. Also, I don't have any I can find seeping from the head cover gasket either. I think I though they were bad because I had a massive oil leak at the oil pump/crank seal and just fixed that recently and cleaned the heck out of the front of the engine.

I'll let you know how it goes over the next few days. Thanks! Either way, I'd love to learn how to make sure the timing is set right on these engines.

Hi Kraig,

I know a guy nearby that has great shop rates. If you are interested, shoot me an email.

Hope you get someone to work for beer, but last resort, my guy is great.

Kraig,
It was nice meeting you at T-n-S last week. If I knew more about timing, I'd be glad to help but that is unknown territory for me currently. If it was a knuckle rebuild, that'd be a different story. Maybe we can hook up for pizza and beer before you head back to Denver.

No problem. Glad to help if you would like to stop by. I'm 15 mins from Encinitas. Timing is easy. Just need a timing gun (strobe light) and rotate the distributer while checking setting on crank pully. Do a google and you will find plenty of info.
