I know I brought this up when we first started this club here, but i think that these things are good to do for numerous reasons.
1. Gets people together to talk, drink, and peruse other cruisers.

2. Gets people to learn more about the vehicle they are driving daily, and how to work on it.

3. And the more people working on the cruiser the faster and better it gets done .

And heck i know we can all teach something out there, some maybe more than others.:D :D :D

And it lets you kind of relax and chill out with other cruiserheads.

What ya'll think ?

We could do it about every 2 - 3 months or earlier.

Great idea, Darin. We seem to have plenty of interest and rigs that need wreching, for sure.

The challenge I've seen with ONSC is scheduling and geographic separation (we are a spread out bunch). Maybe scheduling a few months out could help...

Upstate Cruisers does something similar and it is working out very well. It's a sticky on the club page called, "Help A Member of the Month."

I'm game.

That was one of the places i seen it. I understand we are all spread out but i think if we did it like they do and schedule it out far enough that the person doing it would have plenty of time to get ready for it, i think it would work. I know there are only a few down my way, but i would be willing every couple of months going up north or whatever, the old lady would like it also for the shopping.

I will be out of the country form march 16th through 25th...any other time I am all for it. I am currently finishing details on a frame up build up on one of my 72's....I am no mechanic but did the whole rebuild myself along with my wife's help.

Sounds like a great idea between this and a formal meeting maybe we should get together again as we did way back and put together some sort of schedule for the next few months...locations, times, dates.

I've hosted "wrench-a-thons" at my place before.. My driveway is kinda sloped, but the garage is big enough for 2 rigs (barely, it's 20x20, but with 8' tall doors), and we even have a little area in the "side yard" for some sillyness. (little hill climb, a tree stump to crawl around on, nothing great, but everyone always seems to have fun)

I've got an air compressor and a small but growing selection of air tools.

I'm a little south of Raleigh (20 minutes from Cary Crossroads), and 30 minutes north of Sanford.

I am absolutely SLAMMED prepping the cruiser/tow rig/trailer for the Lone Star Roundup on march 1, but after that, I'm down for it...

For all of you that thought i meant right away, I meant we could start setting something up, heck I know i would like to put some more faces to names also. I just really think this could be a win / win situation. Help someone out on a front end / tranny / clutch / brake job / or just a complete tune up. The people that were having it done on there vehicle of course would get all of the parts and the rest would show up with maybe some special tools we need and go from there.

Also I find it kind of hard with the price of fuel just to go 150 miles to eat a dinner and then return. We could make a complete weekend maybe of this also with going to the woods / Uhwarie that night and wheelin the next day. Ya i know it is kinda far fetched but that could be a possibility.

Just trying to throw some ideas out there.

Heck i know i could use to learn some new things / ways of doing things easier. Just think between a bunch of us we could have about 50 years of wrenchin between us.

I know i have about 20 ( not braggin, just showing my age ).

Should we get together in the not so distant future to iron out some dates? Or should we hash it out here?

I think its something that could be hashed out on here myself.

I would agree that on here would be the best way to get some dates together, esp. since most individuals are a few miles apart. So lets start with that, does anyone want to try and make something happen first of March? What are some possible dates then we can narrow down a location...

Hey Greg, hope I did not step on any toes. Just trying to get this going forward here, and not just on Mud.

Don't feel that way at all, glad to see some motivation, toughest part as mentioned is location for everyone, but as things come together i think it will spark that motivation. Gotta start somewhere...

Its rough around here, might see one other cruiser every month down here, going thru withdrawels here. See I finally got some color on mine ? Just got done doing the second coat, now it is all covered under there.

As soon as the Uwharries open back up, we could do a trail run/wrench session down my way. Also have a place for everyone to stay (barn converted to huge cabin, room for 30 to sleep, stove, fridge, running hot water) if ya wanted to smooth out roughing it a little.

I got a donor vehicle we can do some stuff too. I know if needs a clutch :D

See this is what i am talking about. People need help doing things and instead of paying high labor, we can all get together and help out.

Good old fashioned barn raising... I always wanted to do this when I was in the Georgia Cruisers, but could never get anyone on board. The social side would be nice, but location would likely be an issue for me. I drove to Charlotte a few months back to help a bud, but we ran into snags with missing parts and didn't get much done. In fact, before you guys schedule one of these things, survey the guy getting the help to make sure he's got everything he needs to make it a productive day.
