Just a reminder of the wrench day this saturday Nov. 12.

It will be at our house. Address is 6002 Royal Point, San Antonio TX on the northeast side.

I have burgers and boudin for the grill. If yall can bring some sides post up so Ill know what else to pick up that morning. Cooler and ice will be provided.

Ill be up and ready to go around 8AM.

I'll be there. Eight a.m. might be a bit ambitious for me though. I need to get with Brett to pick up my caliper. I will bring a desert if that is ok. And beer.

Sounds good. Im not working on my truck as my bedliner wont be here in time. I just tossed 8 out there if people want to come early or have something involved.

Kelly I do have a new bottle of brake fluid and a bleeder kit you can use. I dont expect to see anyone until 9 or 10.

Bart - thanks for putting this together. I was planning on coming at 8:30am if that's cool. I am only able to stay until 12:30 so I probably won't be partaking of the food and beverage portion of the event - sadly.

I need to decide what I am going to work on:

Task 1 - I am way overdue installing the factory height OME lift and Man a Fre spacers I purchased months ago. I will go higher later, but I still schlepp 3 kids (3, 6 and 9) around and they already have difficulty getting in and out. I have a second set of wheels with 285s that provide additional clearance when wheeling.

Task 2 - I bought pads and Toyota brake fluid to do the front brakes.

The front brakes are overdue but I have been delaying because I recently bought some locking axles (and dash switch, harness, ecu, etc) off a wrecked '96 that I will be swapping into my '97 soon. Before installing the locked axles, I will do a front axle rebuild, potentially rebuild the rear as needed and install new pads and service front and rear brakes - since this will be easier with them off the truck. I hope to do all that in December but I may go ahead and replace the pads on my current axles now in case it takes several months to get to the axle swap (so little time).

For Saturday, I will probably do the "lift" first and time permitting, change out the pads and bleed the front brakes. I am embarassed to say that I have not done my own brake work on my 80 before so may need a hand with bleeding, etc.

Given that I only have 4 hours, I may just tackle one of these tasks and help out anyone else that might need a second set of hands.

I look forward to meeting more of you.

Id go with the lift-less messy than front brakes. I can get julie to bring a higher set of jackstands home from the shop at work which will make it easier. Front brakes on the 80 also involve repacking the wheel bearings which can be a messy pain to do.

Bart,

Thanks for the offer re taller jack stands. Don't worry about it unless someone else needs them. I have 12 Ton stands that are tall enough. I was going to bring a pair of the 12 Ton and a smaller set for the heck of it. I will also have a 3.5 ton floor jack and a bottle jack. I should be covered.

As for the front brakes, I was only going to replace the pads which does not reqire repacking the hub on the 80. Even so, I think doing the lift will take most of the time I have.

Your stands will be fine then if you're bringing them and the lift will take most of the time.

I'm heading out tomorrow for work but if you all need to use my engine hoist, jack stands, etc, let me know. I'll pick them Back up when I get Back in December. The engine hoist came in handy when installing the lift on the 40

so Kelly, still not wanting to install the lift?
