i started using amsoil synthetic hydraulic fluid in my power steering and it helped a lot with overheating issues, i don't use a cooler anymore which i think can cause some problems with restricting the return flow especially if you use a 3/8" tranny cooler.....also with hydroboost, something to think about- it will fade on you big time if your engine dies and your trying to hold your brakes on a steep hill and like Mace said it puts additional stress on your power steering pump

and you've got one of the most pissed looking 60's i've ever seen man, really cool!

I am not a huge fam of hydro boost brakes with hydro assist. Too many things relying on a single pump.

got room for another pump?

maybe if I remove my AC at unhappy wife cost ..

I'm debating in between hydro brakes or a electric vacc pump .. that will end costing more ( the electric vacc pump ) but less and simple instalation ..

There is any car that come factory with a electric vacc pump .?

thanks dude ..

I choose a 3/8 cooler coz that was the factory lines comes .. I'm using a bigger one in my 80 but need to use a reduction to match the 3/8 lines too ..

I will look for a syntetic PS fluid and see if it helps with the groan that it's my mayor concern now .. I'm under the impresion that the pump it's woring much more harder .. ?

actually not sure what the groans means in my case since it's a brand new pump ..

After a bit more test I'm still happy with the results and not yet decided if I will go with hydro brakes or not .. but here it's a short vid of my PS reservoir ..

I take temps on my oil cooler and was around 110ºF and direct on the fuid ( not sure if the laser temp works on liquid ) and it was 126ºF

Another info for this thread .. after a long and heavy Off Road trip down here ..

My PS setup hold pretty well .. the only issue it's the oil "thickness" it get hot around 140F that are not too hi anycase .. but my pump start groaning pretty loud ..

So I'm planing swap my actual STP PS Fluid with new Dextron III Castrol ATF and see if that help ..

Maybe the power steering cooler needs to be bigger?

I'm still looking for a 80 series tranny cooler that will be an upgrade, not a huge upgrade but I will try it .. I was looking for oils and found 68 ..? Hydraulic oil .. looks like it's in me middle of plain power steering fluid and ATF fluid ..
