And this hose... I picked up a replacement 12" from Napa but the stuff he sold me is too beefy for the old clamps... he said it was simply air hose? Yes/no?

Oh holy s*** the torture of that last bolt holding the exhaust horn near the firewall. I seriously don't know how you men do it w/ hands far bigger than mine?!
I fought w/ just getting the bolt to bite till I finally got smart and used a flathead to separate the horn a smidge from the manifold. Then to get it twisted in I got wise and used an old tool w/ a new tool.
She's on now.
And who ever posted the pix of the tire step stool, thank god. I use it all the time now. Love it! Well worth the $50 or so it cost.

Nice work! Those are the moments I am glad some previous owner installed a 1" body lift on my truck - that much makes all the difference in a few places.

I'm liking the tire step! I can't count the times I have ate sh!t after slipping off my ARB, or the hub. I'm going to have to look for one of those.

Yes, that hose.

Nothing on those threads necessary (pipe thread) but I always use anti-seize on stuff into soft aluminum.

Should be thick-walled PCV tube for that. If it's thicker than what was there, it's prolly good to use.

Ok. I swapped the clamps that were on the short section from the brake booster (forgive me if I'm saying the wrong name) to the finned piece. But I gotta find a few others a tad tighter for that pcv hose to the carb.

"Yea that hose"... What's in that hose? Is it part of the heating system? Am I gonna have coolant leak out when I pull it?

Cut the temp sensor for the carb fan off the hard section of pcv pipe and it's going on the intake where there's two bolt holes meant for it.

That VTV clips in that bracket...

Gosh, what would I do w/o you?! Laughing. Yeah I kept trying to stuff it in there but the other hose was in the way. I need to look up that chart in my saved pixs that @Output Shaft added on a thread a bit ago about the length of hose on either side of each VCV and VTVs.
Stopping for now before I get to ahead of myself. I need to refuel and rest so I can get over my stupid anxiety tmrw about jacking the truck up and putting it on stands... gotta get that 'new' used pump and the gearbox flushed and filled w/ new fluid.

Anything anyone sees that I have wrong or off ect please speak up! I appreciate all words of guidance and encouragement.

Hose to firewall is for rear heater. Some coolant will come out when it's removed.

Just caught up and subscribing. Very impressed. I'm unclear on the time frame though. Is this 60 up and running or still getting closer? I know there's a bit of time delay between the pics and the text. All that work in the cold and snow? Props, for sure.

Very jealous of the smog free zone you live in.

Regarding your molasses derusting-you would also have fun with electrolysis. Easier to set up than you think, quicker than molasses, and leaves the ferrous metal like new. To keep it from flash rusting, spray down with phosphoric acid (Ospho or equivalent). Makes a good pre-paint surface of iron phosphate vs iron oxide which separates from the underlying metal.

Great work though, saving another of these beasts.

Hi, was up and running when I bought her last year. Been running on and off but last was in about Jan I believe but I wasn't able to get her off choke. Finally gave into the cracked intake which I knew was there in Oct but had crossed my fingers it wasn't gonna be an issue. Ha! Lessons from the 60's. Love them.
And yes electrolysis is a cool system too I just don't have it to be buying a chargers ect right now among all the other things. So for $10 and a few weeks, the molasses was a cool and fun way to remove rust.

Facebook kindly reminded me that 4 years ago today I was very pregnant and drove my truck from CT to NH and sold her for parts.
Whoa big 7 month pregnant me and w/ hair next to my '84 Rootbeer Brown FJ60 at CruiserParts on 4/18/13.

Sellers remorse was pretty much instantaneous.

Look at that door panel. We just can't find good interior parts like that down here. No fading and the carpet at the bottom still looks good. I do understand the trade off :)

I was thinking similar thoughts. That truck did have some good aspects tho she was a super rusty bucket... unlike the truck I have now thankfully!

Your persistence to do it right and attention to detail is refreshing to see in a instant gratification world. I know it's hard to go through the, unable to drive times, but once it's running again, you now it was done right:).
