Those of you who remember my little bitty son in the photos here in my thread…. He’s 13 now, far taller than me and loves mountain biking. He recently made a YouTube channel and would love, likes, subscribers and shares. Figured why not add to my page.
I’m still chugging along. Truck runs but I haven’t rolled it much since the few episodes of stalling as they really stressed me out. Been sucked into a pond and bog filter project for a while but at the point that I gotta get stone and boy would it be great to have the truck to do it. Guess I’ve become a bit of a sissy in the last few years. 52 in April and knees aren’t what they used to be. Work sucks so bad but w/ pay increases I can’t leave.
Whatever I’ll get over my fear at some point.
Always appreciate the compliments from all you guys who still keep at it. I’m the bitch on fb who’s perpetually telling the young guys that a FJ60 isn’t an FJ. They kill me. Damn kids these days…. No respect. 🤣🤪
Here’s Sal…

@NeverGiveUpYota I concur. Adulting sucks. Acquiring stuff that drags you down sucks (debt, belongings, people). Buster Brown left the stable years ago so I haven’t been in the 60 forum for awhile. Glad your post turned up. 13 years old. Time flies!!

I did a thing and purchased a few 40’s to distill and curate into one. The acquisition and life circumstances kicked my backside. Believing that neither were related, I tore down each cruiser and sold most of the valuable parts to break even. Still whipped and exhausted, I decided to store WTF (Wisdom Turns Folly) until I got my mojo back. That was April 2023 when the truck was banished to hibernation. Head down, one foot in front of the other, and wouldn’t you know it-WTF is back in the yard and on its glacial journey to becoming road worthy.

Get AAA. They have towed my sorry butt when mechanicals attempted to defeat me.

How embarrassing, I made myself take the truck out. Went over to the church across the street. Zoomed around their big lot. Everything was fine. Took it out onto 66 drove down to Napa. Had the kid down there help me with the windshield wiper replacements I bought a while ago, because I was having a hard time fighting with them and I just didn’t wanna do it myself. Drove down to the gas station added 5 gallons of gas. Left gas station coming back to my house, maybe gave it a smidge too much throttle and all of a sudden it started going. I could feel it wanting to stall out. I pull over put my hazards on. And it will not go every time I try to give a gas to roll it wants to stall out. So I shut it off and turn it back on again. I’m just sitting there with it running with the hazards on and a cop pulls up. Now I’m stressing because I haven’t even looked to see if I got an updated insurance card or the registration anything. He’s super duper nice, asks for zero info and 66 is pretty tight right there, lotta lotta cars. He offers to stop traffic and just stay behind me to see if I could limp it the tiniest bit down the road back into the Napa parking lot. It totally goes. I get it in the Napa parking lot. I don’t wanna park face in in case I do have to have it towed so I back it into a spot he pulls in next to me, asked me about it, compliments me on it and offer to stay behind me the less than 2 miles to my house. I totally drives no problem up to third up to fourth and even had to slow down behind a slow person. I shut hazards off to put on blinker and pull in my driveway. He beeps and waves at me and that’s it. I tell you that Truck hates me. Maybe crud in the carb jets…

Yeah I cancelled my AAA subscription a while trying to save money but I need to do it again.
Thank you commenting. Always appreciate hearing from old friends who saw me through this journey.

One of my most favorite people reminded me of the Okie rebuild…. Wild crazy storm that could include tornadoes on its way but that will be foremost to try clearing out particles that might be in the carb.

Pull the dipstick. Does the oil smell of gas?

Well sheets of rain and yes I think it does… but really truck has BARELY been driven so I can’t imagine my rings are worn. More that the short trip didn’t burn off fuel like if I’d been driving it right along for a number of miles. All I did was about 4 into town and four home on a road that your barely exceeding 45 mph.

Manual fuel pump may be on the way out.

They like to puke into the oil pan. Oil level rises the worse it gets. Keep an eye on it.

Basically brand new. Pretty sure I replaced it not all that long ago after the first stalling. Unless due to sitting its bladder became brittle.

Probably not part of the symptoms then.

I'm fairly close to you in the grand scheme of things and would be happy to help diagnose and fix. I have a Buch of carburetor take off parts leftover from my sniper conversion you are welcome to. PM me if that's of interest.
