Sliders on the beast, straun bead locks in a box in the shop(thank god) and the beast runs like a dream, I did 80 miles per hour going to chesnee yesterday with no vibration at all very little wander and with the engine mod's to the 2F pulled hills and passed semi's when ever I wanted. Life is getting better!!!:bounce::bounce::steer::steer:

Awesome!! want to try it out next month??

Mine still needs a little more love to drive right. It does better at 70 than 40, though.

If Im off yeah I plan on going to Gulches I assume that was your reference. And your 62 used to ride real nice at 70.

Of course there is the possibility that the beast may be in atlanta at that time getting her new 4.0 low range gears at ACC, paid the deposit today they had a 62 case to send in for the machine work to take the gears so I might not have a ride. We will see. :bounce::bounce::bounce:

new gear set

Michael from ACC called the transfer case has been machined by AA and is on the way back to Atlanta, went ahead and ordered the 5 speed as well. Won't have many pic's just me going to and bringing it back from hotlanta, just decided that I take toooooo long to cripple my DD for long if I tried the install myself. AS I said life is getting better. :)

Toyota 5 speed

Paid for the 5 speed today they are proud of those things but they are worth it, At least I think so. Getting sorta excited about the install. Now all I have to do is get the beast down to atlanta when they call, the transfer case is not yet back from AA and I guess now that the tranny is paid for they will get it on the way as well. Looks like I will have a 4 speed and at least most of a split case as extra's or sale items in the future. Right now I can't make up my mind if I want to sell them or just hang on till somthing breaks. Hummmmm!

What gear noise, your's sound's like a limo compared to some i've ridden in or driven. Your not jumping out of gear or having shifting issues are you?

no ist just really loud. louder than before. And there is a "clunk" when shifting from 1st to 2nd

That sounds like it might be a bearing going out or a scychroniser going bad, could be time for a rebuild. What year model is your truck there is a difference in these transmissions. Mine is 4/85 any older and it may not fit this one is the same length as the 5 speed so it has about a 4 inch spacer on the output side. If my memorie is working right your's is a 83 that would be the shorter tranny. Sounds like you just need to rebuild not replace but that's just my opinion. Any way mine is not out yet so we have some time to consider. Heck may get mine out and find it's toast and we just did not know it yet. I'll keep you in mind if I decide to let it go.

Doc you got to get some pics man. I am so ready to see the heap of parts turned truck. The last time I saw it there wasn't even a transmission mounted.

There are a couple on the low county site, a thread called still alive and the Gluches run there is a pic of the beast with davids heep waiting our turn to do the hill climb. But ok I will take a bunch of shots (posers) this weekend weather permitting and post them up for you. :)
