Hi, All:
I'm new to the forum today. I've got an 88 FJ62 that I've owned since 1997, approx 181K miles on it now. It now needs some restoration work (body, replacement parts, probably a good overhaul on the engine and transmission). I'm in Western NC, and the closest Cruiser specialist I know of is in Atlanta. (Urban Land Cruisers)

Does anyone know of a Land Cruiser restoration specialist here in NC, or even better, in WNC? (I know JT Outfittes used to do restorations, but it's my understanding that they don't anymore.)

Thanks in advance!

Steer clear of JT outfitters.....

There is also ACC in Atlanta. None that I know of really that specializes in Land Cruisers in NC.

Stan (NCFJ) a member here does do work on cruisers though and is in SC which wouldn't be too far from you. toyoutfitters.com I think

Give us a call we are not to far from you and are finishing up our 2nd 62 restoration this year. We are having an open house this weekend and a restored 62 will be on display.

Welcome aboard Buckwoman.

Youve been given good advice so far. Already had Stan and Darin in mind for possible contacts.
Would not hesitate to use Smtyblt's services and have myself in the past. They do fantastic work but are 6hrs from you. Not to deter we have had several member do long distance builds with them.

Urban LandCruisers developed quite the unfavorable reputation through David's lack of customer service and we were fortunate for ACC to come into fruition. They do top notch work and would be right there in my consideration of people to do major work to my truck.

Do not contact JToutfitters unless they have a part in stock you absolutely need. Rude and unproffessional people in general.

Post up some pics and keep us informed on your decisions or further thoughts.

I 2nd Jason. Iron Pig Off Road and ACC in Atlanta are great guys who do great work and have a strong reputation on the east coast cruiser scene. Stan and Darin are also both great and have a huge wealth of knowledge.

welcome to the club!

I haven't had the same problems with JT Outfitters as others, and would buy from them again because they're local. I've never had any problems, and the stuff I've bought from them is still working on my cruiser... The time I ordered all my knuckle rebuild items, the guy was pleasant to talk with, chatted about cruisers, and got it to the shop in time. I've since bought a clutch slave cylinder, water pump, bushings, diff seals and plugs, ignition switch, and voltage regulator.
