Wix Or Fram? Anyone Know Which Oil Filter Is Better???

I use wix and have for years on a wide variety of cars. If I'm at the dealer getting other stuff too, I'll pick up a few oem filters.
I put my last Fram on back in February of 1998. It was a Supra I think I don't remember the make but I remember what a PITA the oil filter was to get to, especially since I had to do it twice. The gasket had slipped off and made a HUGE mess all over the floor when I started the engine.

Yeah it's easy, just don't come here!

can you put a tech section on your ignore list?

Not hard to ignore a thread with a very accurate title.

Wix over the Fram but for that price range I would stick with the Toyota YDDZ3. If you want the best oil filter out there and are willing to pay a premium then get an Amsoil EaO [EaO57 or EaO34(M201 size)] .

Good Wix = Napa Gold. For Cruisers Part # 1515.

Bad Wix = Napa Silver.

fyi: Napa Gold 1515 DOESNT fit on LX470. The filter is too big and it's hitting the frame and top can't screw in.
unless I'm song it wrong.

Napa Gold (Wix) 1516, sometimes listed as 51516, is the larger filter that fits. Napa Gold are good filters, used and trusted by truck and equipment fleets extensively, and on much more expensive motors than we have. I see them often in the Oilfield Services industry.

I order a dozen at a time from fleetfilter dot com and pay $4 ea. Their air filters are good quality too. Been using Wix filters for decades with no problems whatsoever.
