I have the Mark Levinsion system, and technically this is the LC diagram, but they have they same connectors so maybe they are the same, I hope.

Can anyone confirm that pin number 12 on the 20 pin connector is the dimmer control for the head unit?

If not, does anyone know which one is? My new head unit is blinding me at night...

i believe it is pin #2 on the 20 pin connector ILL stands for illumination i think. pin #12 is also for illumination but is supplying a ground signal which won't trigger an aftermarket radio dimmer, either way your aftermarket radio is looking for a 12v illumination signal in order to dim.

Thanks, I meant pin #2, can anyone say for certain that this is in fact the pin for the dimmer? I can't think of what else ILL would stand for.

Also does it make sense that since the connectors are the same on the LX/Mark L and LC head unit are the same that the pins would be the same? Anyone?

BTW when i say dimmer, I mean the knob/wheel on the dash that changes the brightness of everything, the new head unit dims very slightly when the low beams are on, but not enough to bearable when driving

are you replacing the head unit with aftermarket or a stock unit from another year/make?

if aftermarket, most aftermarket radios don't have the ability to dim with the dimmer knob. the dimness you're getting with the low beams on is most likely all you're gonna get. unfortunately i don't think you can make that work as expected.

if stock, i'm sure you will be able to make it work.

I got it figured out, thanks for the help. I put in a Kenwood DNX7190HD, turns out the you can adjust the screen on the head unit itself without using the vehicle dimmer (or you can use the car's knob, it has like 4 different modes:rolleyes:).

Took me two days to figure this out cause you have to press and hold the telephone button on the head unit to access the screen settings......why the telephone button is beyond me, but at least i can use the thing at night now :D
