Wire Identification?

Hi all, cleaning up some wiring on the 62 and found one I can't identify. It's a twisted pair that goes through the firewall by the dashboard on the drivers side. It is strung across the firewall and goes down the passenger side of the engine compartment. Then it goes down to about the rear of the tranny and from I was able to see before it got dark at least one of the two twisted wites is not connected to anything.

Any luck on this?

If it's not OEM, someone might've started to install a rear (backup?) lighting system or something. If you like gadgets, the wiring is all ready there.

I like gadgets but I don't like wiring nightmares

It's the remains of aftermarket cruise control So far I've removed untold pounds useless wire and components. Who knows what I have yet to find.

Is it any wonder my horn goes off when I put on my hazard lights? Not to me anymore. Still have intermittent reverse lights, I'm going to have to look the taillights again now that all the crap is gone. I suspect that issue is just a bad ground but I have yet to find that.

I should probably leave well alone but now that I'm into it I'll have to finish it up. Beware of what one will find when delving in to 18 years of wiring

Decided to take a look at the steering column wiring and thought I found my answer when I found a broken wire. Nope just more cruise control wiring
