On my 76' 40 the wipers went from working to kinda/sometimes then not at all. As in pull the switch and they come on or they don't until they just won't come on at all. Through my trouble shooting pretty sure it's the switch only, but don't want to buy another one of the stock ones right away. How do I convert the stock factory wires(4) to a simpler toggle style switch so I can get wipers back on-line asap. Be nice if with this temporary set up they returned to bottom(park) automatically but either way is fine. I am mildly confused as to why the switch stopped working because everything looks "ok" there. Also any "idiot" break-down on how it all works be super helpful because honestly this silly little switch confuses me....:o anybody ever figure out a simple wiper delay set-up...:wrench:

Hella makes one...... New Hella part# 001871041

Adjustable from 2 to 20 sweeps per minute ........

cost about 38 bux........

first try to take the switch apart and clean the contacts with some steal wool. I have saved most of the switches in my truck this way.

at the bottom where the wires attach you will see where there are some metal tabs bent over it.
pry these up and the plate will come off (watch for springs.) and you will probably find corosion on the contacts. shine those up and put it back together. Then you know if you need new one.

It's no wonder they last 30 yrs once you see the way they are made.
