Hi all,

I have a 2000 model diesel 100 series cruiser. The 20A fuse for the wipers and washer bottle keeps blowing. I have disconnected every component I can think of off this circuit to isolate them as a problem and still it is blowing the fuse. I have disconnected:

Front wiper motor
Washer bottle motor
Combination switch
Both rear wiper motors
Both rear wiper relays

It seems like an intermittent short. I bought a 'Short Buddy' testing tool that allows me to detect when there is a change in current. It plugs in to the fuse socket. It also opens the circuit if there is a condition that would blow a fuse. I have wiggled as many wires as I can find and cannot replicate the issue manually, only by driving the car.

Any help greatly appreciated.

cheers.

I had a similar short and it was right at the battery terminal. I'm not sure if it was the pos or neg side, but there were three wires and one of them was about to break off. I'm not sure of the name of that wire cluster, but may be fusable links.

Sorry jessej, I just realized that was on my 80 series, so may not be relevant.

Thanks Bonze,

Will check that. I was also starting to wonder if my dual battery setup may be faulty and affecting the wiper circuit somehow. The only other after market items I have are cruise control and central locking. I have removed the cruise control and I don't think the central locking is on that circuit.
