So I'm sitting at a stoplight, and the car in front of me used the windshield washer. It shot a spray that completely doused their windshield, car, and the front of my LX...

This reminded me how pathetic my windshield spray is. It barely reaches the base of the windshield, and the "spray" pattern is closer to 2 weak "V" shaped arcs originating from the nozzles. What is the fix for this? A new washer fluid pump? I don't have fluid coming out the rear washer nozzle at the same time as I spray the front, or vice versa. I believe this would eliminate the windshield washer valve as the problem, but I could be wrong. I could try aiming the nozzles higher, but I would still expect more of a "spray" pattern instead of the streams. Any input?

The lines and or the nozzles may have some crap in them. Also check that the terminals to the pump are clean.

A pet peeve of mine is that when I only want to spray the rear window, I get jets of spray up front as well. Why did they design it this way? Negating selective spraying seems wasteful...

Right next to your fuse box under the hood you'll see a little black round film canister thing with 3 tubes going into it, it's your $38 windshield deverter sprayer. ;)

Taken from SLEE newbie guide-->

2.7 Front Washers squirt water when you wash the rear window.

"For those of you who watched with interest the thread on repairing the little diverter valve to fix the rear washer problem - it works.

The part was waiting on me when I got home from work today. I think it was around $30 from James Rodriguez. It's special order, so he has to order to get it, but that's just an extra day.

The gizmo is part # 85321-60050 "Valve, Washer". It is about the size of your big toe and has a bracket integral to the design. It has one hose coming out of it (off the top center, about 2 feet) that goes to the front washer connection on the hood. On the bottom it has two hose connections (bottom center and rear side) along with one electrical plug. It's only a matter of removing the bolt, unhooking the two hoses from the valve, unhooking the hose from the hood and snaking it out of it's connectors and it's out. Took me all of 5 minutes.

When I went to test it, I was amazed. My truck had always (for me) washed the front window about as much as it washed the back window. Now there isn't a drop of washer fluid on the front when I wash the back. A truly amazing thing from my perspective.

Being a cheap rascal, I will take the old one apart and see if it could
be repaired. Someone earlier reported trying this without success, so I'm not anticipating it working. If it happens to, I'll report my success.

So if anyone else wants to get fluid back to the rear window, get this
subassembly installed and fix it right up.

Good luck,
Juice

O.k., back on topic. I do not have an issue with fluid going to both front and rear at the same time, as stated in my first post. I think this rules out the Washer Diverter Valve. I will heed Gold Finger's advice and check the conditions of the electrical connection at the washer pump. I hadn't considered that. I believe the hoses and nozzles are o.k. but I will check again. Any other advice? I may have to get a part# and price on a new pump from Cdan.

Used a sewing pin on my nozzles, made a huge difference, pumps out bunches of fluid now.

That was my experience too. You may have years worth of hard water and additives accumulated around the nozzles. Still, mine does not have the same force os newer washers. Maybe more cleaning will help.

I had the diverter problem and it is as mentioned an easy fix.

Rear line has one way valve located in vincinity of tools' compartment in cargo area. Theat is where mine line clogged. i had good fluid pressure in line all the way to that point . Remove plactic cover where you store few tools, jact etc., under or behind jack you will see washer line, with helper activating rear washer you will be able to feel if there is or is not pressure in line. You will find small in line valve there, too. I could see crud through plastic tubing. Pull it apart cleanse inside.
