My side moldings on the windshield (2000LC) were AFU'd by the PO. Screws were used and not in a particularly professional fashion. Now I have had the windshield removed and replaced but they cannot get the rivets to work because of the enlarged holes. I am gonna use stainless screws, what else is a best practice.

Should I place some form og gasket material between the body and the molding?

Should I use silicone? Adhesive? Rubber washers? New holes? Old holes? fill the holes with something?

Help a brother out.

Thanks

Safelite Auto Glass told me a body shop needs to fill the holes and re-punch the correct ones according to FSM Toyota. Liablity issues prevent them from using Silicone with the screws, but I don't see why it would not work.

A leak down the A-Piller is not a good thing, Dual computers are just below and run aprox $7K for replacement - be very cautious. There is someone on this form that experienced this first hand = Nightmare

Well, I have come up with a plan.
I will fill holes with silicone.
I am going to use gasket tape on the a-pillar, covering all of the holes.
Then I will adhere the moulding by pressing it into the gasket tape.
I will then attach using 5-7 stainless screws with rubber washers in new locations. I will then see if I can get gorilla tape to adhere over the screws.
fnally I will cover this nightmare with the #2 molding.
I will glue down the top portion of the side molding with gorilla glue (as read in the forum).

Anyone see any significant problems?
