I have a leak on the install on my '91 windshield --

-- I had it originally replaced in Dec when I bought the vehicle -- cracks and stuff -- Safelite did it, and used a Toyota windshield --

-- yeseterday, my CT branch said, "bring it in tomorrow, we have a Toyota windshield" --

-- what they meant was one that fit a Toyota -- a Pilkington or something like that --

-- I told them no-dice and that I wanted OEM windshield and seal -- and they're gonna order it --

It just doesn't feel right having any other, especially when all else is OEM, you know?

Eric,
Was there a large price difference, between OEM and generic?

was an insurance job, so i'll never know --

-- actually, this is part of their lifetime warranty on their service --

I would not recommend Safelite to anyone. Their windshields are thinner than most. They use a crappy sealant around all of their seals that creates a huge mess after it breaks again. I've had really good luck with PPG windshields. I bet I've had 15 or so windshields replaced in the past 8 or 9 years, high speed gravel roads will get you every time. The Toyota factory windshields do seem to hold up fairly well. I've not had to replace either on my 80s. I've had some chips filled but no major chips or breaks.

I have had the best luck with toyota OEM windshields for fit. Every thing else that I have tried over the years never seem to fit right. The either rattle (loose fit) or leak with out sealant. Yes I know the glass guys are now required to use a sealant, but it makes for lnoger life of the rubber seal if they do not. later robbie

eh, we got a few tiny nicks in the windshields from stones. Little pin pricks, at the most 1/2mm or so. Need to fill these? If so, what's the best way?
thanks
