time to register my fj , broken windshield the state of utah requires a safety inspection wich means i have to replace my windshield. called the dealer , because at least to my knowledge its the only place where you can get one the dealer qouted me $1,773.00 !!!!!!
to replace . that seems outrageous , so if anyone has any other options for me please let me know. thanks .

That is around the going price, but I had a glass shop down the street do it.
They ordered the glass from my dealer.
1053.00 One windshield
133.00 Labor
15.00 Fast cure, primer
278.19 Dealer molding
130.17 Sales tax
_______________
Total
$1609.36
- 50.00 my deductible
$1559.36
I only had to pay $50 out of my pocket.

good to know i need to check with my insurance to see if they will do the same

It is a good idea too to have the top molding piece replaced.
That is the part that was $278 or so.

It often gets ruined taking it off.
My insurance company has done many FJs, so they knew that the piece should also be ordered.

cory thanks for the info.

Check on your registration they mailed you. I didn't think you had to have emisions or inspection the first year. May be wrong. its been a long time since I had a new car.

Thanks, thats a great thing to know since I hear almost every rock hitting my windshield and i know it will break soon. Seems like the almost vertical windshield attracts every rock flyin'.

Just got a brand spankin new crack in mine and im not to happy about it. Just thought I'd say something.........I'm pretty torqued off about it.

crack

what started as a small rock chip, there is now a crack that goes clear across the window. Sucks big time! they are very expensive to replace. Michael:confused:

my crack was small enough that safelite was able to fix it for $50. I barely can see it. Way cheaper than replacing it.

Is Toyota aware of the windshield problem?Only three wks.,old and i have what appears to be a stress crack. Will call dealer in mourning.
