I laid down my windshield over the weekend after about 10 years and wondered how these defroster vents are supposed to be dealt with? They won't slip out with ease so I didn't force them and they don't want to hide down under the cowl. I had to reach under and disconnect the heater hose to be able to work the windshield. Thanks in advance for the wise guidance.

I took mine out about 2 months ago while working on it and it seemed to me, that it came out through under the dash, but now looking at your pic, it seems like it was visible mounted through the opening that the vent is in in the windshield. Sorry that's not much help.
