How hard is it actually to pop out an old windshield and throw another one in.
Andrea's matrix needs one and I was thinking about going to a salvage yard and popping one in myself.
I really don't know what is involved in this.

If this is a dumb idea does anyone know a good place to get this done in the charlotte area???

Yay! I know this answer too! Yay! 2 in a row!

While i'm happy that you're happy are you going to give me the answer?:flipoff2:

I don't personally have experience with removing and replacing a windshield, but I would not want to remove one alone. Hopefully you can have the junkyard remove it (to make sure it isn't broken). Then, you will have to clean all the old junk glue/sealant off of it. I would recommend getting the toyota seal(s) and the proper glue/silicone/or?. If you don't do it right, you will have problems with wind noise, water leakage, etc. Ask me how I know... I don't think the replacement is that tough, but part cleanliness and prep is important.

My recommendation unless you just want to learn how to do it, is find a reputable installer in Charlotte and use decent glass like PPG, buy the Toyota seal, and let the installer handle it. Not sure what a Matrix windshield costs, but should run you about $200-300 total.
