On my vehicle they need to be replaced. What is this item called? Trying to find replacements on eBay.

The coating on all of them is lifting and cracking.
Does this look like normal aging or did the PO paint them?

Mine is cracked and peeling too. I was thinking of just getting trim paint and spraying it.

Its called "Belt Molding". It's expensive, even if you buy from discounted online dealers in the US. I just ordered a complete set from partsouq last week and the average part price was substantially lower: >50% .

Does anybody have tips on how to remove these? Do they just pull up and out? Mine are peeling too and I figure I'll try painting before I go out and buy new ones.

I dont know what to recommend for you (I ordered everything).

I needed to order a couple of replacement parts that hold the quarter window and ended up consolidating my order into buying a full replacement set belt molding for every door, quarter windows, rear window and windshield. Thinking ahead and not knowing when these low volume body parts will be obsolete I got a little ahead of myself and just ordered everything to keep on hand for when I need it.

what is the number for the full replacement set? sorry to bug.

I wondering if those part number would work for a 99 LC
 
Parts listed were for my 2005 LC, but I just went back and spot checked a few part numbers and the application range was 98-2007, so yes would fit your 99LC. Assume the LX is the same but its always a good idea to cross check posted part numbers for your model year and brand before blindly ordering. You can do that here on each of the factory branded parts site: Toyota Parts Center Online | Genuine Toyota Parts & Accessories, and Lexus Parts | Lexus Parts & Accessories Online

Then buy from your favorite local or online source.

I am planning to do this too.. Just not sure now to paint it or replace the parts.

I placed an order for the moulding. Front, passenger and rear side windows. They should be here sometime next week.

Now to research how to remove the old mouldings. Post up if you have a clue. As I don't at the moment.

I'll update along the way.

Removing exterior door trim

Removing exterior door moulding/trim i found this in the service manual for the front door...what is this picture telling me to actually do? I know there's a phillips head screw that needs removing, but i can't decipher this picture, especially the circled scraper thingy. Anyone done this...

It's still a bit unclear. Do the interior door panels need to be removed to get at the screws for the front door mouldings? I'll find out during the process but knowing this ahead of time would be much better for time efficiency.

I canceled my partsouq order thinking I can get the window belt moulding cheaper from a buddy who works parts at a local Toyota dealer. Turns out he cannot get a better price and he does not know how partsouq gets OEM parts so much cheaper.

Now, partsouq is down for maintenance and I'll have to wait until they get back up to place an order.
 
Anyone know the difference between these 2 part numbers for the rear 1/4 window moulding? Partsouq shows 2 numbers available of:

75740-60010 (MOULDING ASSY, REAR DOOR BELT, LH)
75740-60020 (MOULDING ASSY, REAR DOOR BELT, LH) <-not available
