The power windows on our '97 Subaru I sold last year never had any issues with its 4 windows, they all worked OK in the winter. With my '97 80 series, every one of the windows worked like crap when I bought it 4 years ago.

Face it, 80 series power windows suck!
If you think 1997 power windows suck you should own a 1989 fj62 lol I also have a 94 fzj80 the windows suck oh and a 95 they kinda suck

Looks interesting, but then again can you actually get one? There are a few of his things that have been wanting to buy for almost a year but they are never in stock.

What parts are those?
The hydro boost adapter and the transfer case shifter relocation bracket(s) out of your Cummins swap kit. I’ve watched your site and also asked quite a few times. Although I haven’t asked in while both your Cummins swap out and the hydro boost kit still show out of stock on your site.

Edit: I was also needing the power steering spacer and since that appears to be back in stock, placed an order.

I did, for 20 years! Yes, they were even worse and actually I didn't even bother trying to fix them. Not a single one worked at all in winter.

With my 80 I've replaced master switch, two regulators with motors, one other motor and one window run.

OTOH, I have a 1990 4runner in Hawaii and all the power windows work fine, never have replaced anything other than the master switch. Go figure. I guess power windows is one thing Toyota did not get right with their 20th century Land Cruisers.

Hand cranks suck. Nothing appealing about having to stop the truck to stretch across the truck to roll a window up or down. Even slow, poorly working power windows are more convenient than that.

I daily a truck with hand cranks.
I had a 4 Runner and the Manual Window was Buttery Smooth for Drivers Side. I really miss it in Winter compared to Cruiser.
The Manual Seat Slid was Perfect too. I miss it when the Cruiser Seat Whines and Refuses to move.
For Passenger and Rear Windows power the Only way to go.

Imagine if Toyota did the 60/40 Tailgate, but you could put the Rear Window down like in a 4 Runner. Even 6" Would be Great....or so she said.

A Pop Up Sunroof would have been Fine too. Everyone's is Broken or Leaking now. Mines Disconnected.

You've held out long enough. I heard a young person mention the other day that they're "getting into" cassette tapes.

I understand the fascination with physical media as a response to streaming services generally sucking but... TAPES? No thanks, they sucked the first time around.

I've been down the road of ipod integration in my truck to early bluetooth to android auto. I reverted BACK to the OEM stereo because I wanted one less smart screen in my life.

I drove a buddy’s 80 that has power seats a while back and thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Same with my daughter’s 3rd Gen. It takes about two seconds to move the seat in my 80.

I still think replacing 30 year old motor/gearbox grease is cheaper. It's been close to 100º here and my 80's windows run up and down like new. They crawl in the winter.

definitely cheaper, but end result may not be the same, I've replaced all of my motors, and it didn't improve anything. defintely not cheap but having slow windows for 10+ years dispite my efforts, and having them twice as fast after a 15 min mod was definitely worth it for me.

I ABSOLUTELY DETEST my power seats... I've replaced the gears 4 times, the first 2 stripped almost immediately... 3rd lasted about a week... last has lasted about 2 years... but I don't move it... if I have to adjust I get out. lol

if I could swap to a manual slider I'd do it in a heartbeat.... I'm saving my pennies for some scheelman seets

I installed a Window Rocket in a LHD FZJ80 with a stickshift and it fit fine. The one I installed it in didn't have the assist springs on the pedal. Austin's pedal does have the assist springs and was shaped differently from the one I did.

The 91-92's don't have the brackets either because they don't have ABS. There's a good chance the kit we make for the 91-92's will fit 93+ LHD 80 series without ABS. Stickshift or automatic.

RHD is in process as well.

Safe to assume then that there will be a solution for RHD with no ABS when the dust settles on this?

I share that experience with seat gears stripping again and again. What seems to have worked for me is disassembling everything 100%, cleaning, greasing, assembling and verifying alignment of both sides. Then gears hold up well.

Agreed here - alignment between rails is critical to not stripping any gears. I run both rails to their stops and then back off the same amount on each side before assembly.

Replaced them with what? The OEM motors have long since been NLA.
