I am not sure what the part is officially called, but the plastic clips that grab the bottom of the drivers window thus allowing it to roll up and down, broke on me. My glass just fell out of the carriage slot and I can no longer roll the window up and down now without it going all kittywampus on me. Issue is this:
1. What part do I replace? The entire assembly?
2. How do I get to the assembly? I can't fit my hands or tools in there.
I'm assuming you are referencing the plastic tabs at the bottom of the glass? If so, I believe you will need a new side window to fix the issue.
I think you can detach the glass from the lifting mechanism and work the glass out the top of the door. You may need to remove the exterior belt molding to get the glass out.
You can access the clip attaching bolts with the window about halfway down...you'll need to cut a hole in the plastic film over the inside door panel to access the rear bolt. As posted above, you can lift the glass up and outward to remove it.
I read a thread here noting that Corolla clips may be modified to fit the LC window...junkyards should have a window you can destroy to get a clip. Option 2 would be to get a new or used LC window. Common problem is bolts attaching window clip to window regulator can loosen, use a drop or 2 of blue Loctite when you reinstall.
Thanks to both of you. And yes, those plastic clips are exactly I what I'm talking about. Ok. So this is going to be drama. That's fine, I'll commit a day or two to it. The glass itself detached from those clips so I can get it out no problem. But i would rather replace the clips than try to find window glass. I'll take your advice on the loctite. Thanks again.
