Alrighty, so I picked up a cheap M12000 for my 80. YAY for power. It's in pretty good shape except for the paint is corroded on spots from the MagCholride that they put on the streets here
in the winter.
So I"m sanding her down, cleaning her up etc. The cable is in excellent shape, a few nuts have corrosion so I"m cleaning up and replacing those. I opened up the clutch mechanism as the free spool wasn't working. The handle was basically pushed in. I took it apart. Nice clean grease so internally great shape. Fixed the free spool and all is happy.
I plan on painted the case and drum. It's going to get in-cab controls and remote solenoid pack.
So a few questions.
Anyone have a good recommendation for Warn gray paint that will stand up to heat?
The plug/socket was replaced with a trailer wiring one. Any reason to switch back to a different better one? or just roll with what I have.
