I finally bucked up and got a winch, Warn 8000, which should get me out of my possible Missouri stucks! :D

I have had my ARB on for about 6 years w/o a winch. So for mounting instructions I contacted ARB who e-mailed me instructions - which were minimalistic at best. So I thought I would add my .02 and pictures to help with this type of install.

First I removed the 6 bolts holding on the bumper to the mounting brackets.

Then I clocked the Winch to operate from the front of the ARB.

Time to install the winch into the ARB. Install the fairlead at the same time as winch is bolted to the bumper.
Set the winch on a stand (in my case a motorcycle stand worked well) and place the bumper onto the winch - you'll need a friend to do this with you! :D
See notes on photo...

NOW get the same friend to help you lift the entire assembly back onto the truck, it is heavy, with steel cable I'd guess around 150# and awkward to handle.

Hang the ARB on the frame mounts and have your buddy lean on the ARB so it doenst slip off and crush you while you reinstall the 6 bolts you removed earlier.

Wire up winch - DIRECTLY - to the battery, ground the selenoid, and reinstall the skidplates and you're done!

I also included a photo of where I relocated my oil filter (with kit from Downey) for super easy access under the ARB.

FYI, I lost 3/4" lift height with stock (140K) springs and shocks, next mod is Coil overs to restore original lift height! :grinpimp:

nice!

can you tell the extra weight is in the front when driving down the road?

Thanks for the compliment

There is not a huge difference but it may be psychosymatic, I know it adds more weight but am I REALLY noticing it....:hmm:

Either way after the C/O shocks are on the added weight will be negated - now if there was just someplace to wheel in NE MO....

looks good. im saving for a front bumper for mine. i got a rear bumper for 80 bucks. i was told it would fit my 04 but its for an 05 and up. it just needs alittle fab work and ill have it on.

What is meant by clocking the lever?

And is that an M8000?

"Clocking" is rotating the lever, in this case, around the housing. This must be done to access the engagement/freespool lever thru the ARB bumper.

Yes it is an M8000.

Got it ;)
