So in my local electronics store today I saw a cell phone adapter that works with regular cellphones to boost the signal stength to 3 watts. Most phones are around .5 watt now, mostly due to higher old ones can cause tumors etc..

This mobile amplifier has an antenna inside to read with your phone, and roof mount antenna. 3 phones at a time can be used in the car.

The wireless one is the one I might buy. Cell phone coverage is quite crappy in Northern BC, so I thought it might help.

Here a link in case anyone else wants to read about them. I have no connection, just thought they were cool,.

I saw that in Popular Mechanics in the past. Just recently read about the Samsung Ubicell for the home. Not out yet, but looks promising.

Try a Spotwave repeater. It is the only carrier approved (but not endorsed) repeater for residential usage. The other major brand - like JDTECK is a full powered constant 3 watt repeater that will flood the area with constant 3 watt - not a good idea as it creates interference, especially in a CDMA network.

Disclaimer - I have no financial interests in either company, but did receive free eval units to test from various venders.

I used to have what they call a "bag phone" it was great for long distance stuff. It put out about 3 watts. Right now it would be the perfect offroad type cell phone. Other than a sat phone.

But they don't make powerful phones anymore. Only pretty ones.....uugh. That is why I liked this amplifier.

I will be buying one in a couple months. The cell phone range up where I live is awful. 10 mins out of town you lose the signals.

El Dorado County Sheriff continues to purchase new 3 Watt Motorola bag phones for installation in cop cars. My bag phone is my only cell phone. It lives in my 40.
