Hi Guys,
Im going to attempt to replace my radiator, belts, hoses, water pump, and thermo on my fj62.

I'm likely under qualified and potentially under tooled for the job. With that being said I'm wondering if anyone in or around the SD area with experience doing the same job on a 62 might have some space and some time they would be willing to exchange for payments from my friend MR TECATE and good time fooling around on a truck or working on their own while lending me some guidance.

My plan is to use the FSM and the forums but it would be nice to have someone around who's done it to give me some guidance where I need it or whatever.

Really any time in the next few months works. I'm just ordering the parts now.

This job is more extensive than anything else I've done on the cruiser and I don't want to mess it up. :)

I wish I could help but my cruiser seems to take up my time and garage as well. The job is not that bad. Just note as you install and tension belts to make sure the first belts are tight. The PS belt should be such that the pump is upright. You might need to play with the tension pulley to getm it right.

I had a shop once try to tighten the PS belt via the alternator. It shredded the alt belt in short order.

If the metal pipe that connects the lower rad hose to the pump is rusty, replace it. I had a pinhole leak that caused my truck to lose coolant for more than a year.

Hi Noah, @1973Guppie thanks again. Yeah I think Im going to try and tackle the radiator, belts, water pump, therm, myself but If I run into trouble it would be awesome to be able to shoot you an email / text or call if you want to PM me your info. Thanks a ton!

Include a price for the labor though if you can, incase I have a change of heart. Thanks!

Just a heads up but the Beach & Toys group, our local TLCA chapter meets at Mike's BBQ by Auto Parkway off of 15 this Tuesday at 6PM. We have this little room off to the side for our group. It's a good group, very knowledgeable, and one can grab a beer and some grub.
