Recently purchased a 62 with 130k on it. Looking for a budget minded weekend wheeler-hunting rig, I want 33x12.5's with medium backspacing and decent flex. I am wondering if anyone is running or has an opinion on a 1" body lift, 1" lift shackles and some trimming to make up the difference (rig comes with a little body damage so I'm not shy to use the grinder). I like'em wide and low but I still want to be able to stuff a 33" tire. Thanks.

No. Actually, there is no answer to your question since who knows how much you're going to grind. A 33 will rub in front with a 2.5 inch suspension lift when fully articulated. Shackles only 1 inch wouldn't be worth the installation trouble, as you'd only see a half inch of lift. Additionally, a 1" body lift wouldn't get you anywhere. You need a narrow rim, and more lift by far than you're considering.

I have the OME HD 2.5" running 33x12.5 w/ no rubbing issues when fully articulated. The differences could be the brand of the lift.
Sorry but I can't comment regarding the shackles, trimming and body lift.

if it's a 1" lift shackle it would be a two inch longer shackle, thanks for the input though. I'm kinda wondering if anyone else is running a similiar setup or better yet has some pix.

I drove my 60 for many years in exactly the configuration you are trying achieve. WIth a set of OME springs, longer shackles to avoid inverting, and 33" tires on 10" rims I had no issues. My personal opinion of body lifts is less than favorable; I would prefer any type of suspension upgrade over a body lift, and the fact that they are illegal in many states is something to consider.

Mine was an 83 V8 conversion with 33x12.50's on 10" rims, smokey mountain lift, ome shackles, hardware, heckethorn shocks. It definitely would rub at the back of the front wheelwell when intentionally stuffed. May have been the large offset I was running.

my 33x12.5 with ome heavy WILL rub only when FULLy stuffed. on an 8 inch rim

nt to beat a dead horse, but with 33x12.5 on a 8 inch wide rim i only get the very slightest, totally inconsequential rub on the inside of the rear fenderwell

i also ran 33x12.5 on the stock rims (which i measure at something like 7 inches wide) and no lift, and only got slightly more run in the same spot on the inside of the rear fenderwell

but everyone here tells me theres no way im right... im no genius yet with cruisers, but i know what i know, it worked for me...

now if you wanna run less b/s for a wide look, youll get fender lip rub issues

of course with the big tires and no lift it looked sorta whack... sorta like my car was wearing clown shoes, but it worked, and i wheeled like this plenty with no issues

heres a pic or 2, no lift, 33x12.5R15, stockies, slight rub on inner rear fenderwell

but now im on ome and i have no rub as far as i can tell, but some slight marks on the inner rear fenderwell try to convince me otherwise, even still, negligible

I would just put an add a leaf in there with the shackle and body lift and you should be set. I did a 2inch body lift aal took out the smallest spring in the pack when I did it and 2 1/2" over stock shackle. so it netted me 4 - 4.25 inches of lift and then I brought the stock wheels out 1 1/2" with a spacer and I get absolutley no rubbing under any conditions. All of that probably cost me about 400-450$ not including shocks or tires But by taking out one of the leafs it actually rides pretty soft I was impressed not to mention the flex is great.
