Will it fit? (2 Viewers)

That's a dumb place to put a hi-lift. Trust me, I had one of those on my 55 in its early incarnation. One trip to Tellico and my hi-lift looked like a pretzel. Plus it was lead dog for more gunk off the highway than you can imagine. You'd be better off putting a seat belt on your hi-lift and letting it ride shotgun.

It will fit...I put mine up there when I am going to use it only and even then I use the high lift cover..it does hang out about 6" so for hard core wheeling it is prob not the best...I do not leave it on there... here is a pic...you will need to use some longer bolts than supplied and make some spacers (or use washers) to space out the bottom of the mount since the bumper is curved....I personally like mine mounted here..i used to mount mine overhead on my racks but after once false step I left a huge dent/scratch down the side of my old ride.

I would not want to rear end a car or hit a pedestrian even at very slow speed with that on the front of my vehicle.

I think the easiest thing to do and most practical (even though it doesn't look very cool) is to keep it in the back behind the back seat and tie it down through the loops back there. It's easy to take on and off then too. I use to have it on the front of my old truck which was a discovery and it was kind of a pain. But thats just my opinion. I like it in the back also because that is where I keep all of my tools anyway. Which reminds me I need to get that line X'd some day cause there is a lot of crap that I throw back there. Oh well.

Did you take out the carpet in the back?

No I havn't. But its getting real muddy back there and parts of the carpet might be ripping.

Nice...
Good to know that you're taking care of your rig.

One problem with trying to store a hi-lift in the cargo area is just the shear size of the thing. The 48" hi-lift is pretty much useless if you have a decent lift, so most need to go to a 60". The 60, if it will fit back there would be pretty unweildy. I recall the 60" bar fitting on the 2nd row floor board, so if you want to take the chance of that thing getting flung around and hitting you in the head...it might work there.

I recall mooker82's thread about mounting it up front. I still don't think I'd take the risk of having it there. If you have the OEM roof rack, why not clamp it up there? Slee Offroad used to sell mounts for it. I know Yakima still sells hi-lift mounts for their racks.

"I would not want to rear end a car or hit a pedestrian even at very slow speed with that on the front of my vehicle." I would not eiter but its no worse than having a tow bar on the front of a vehicle...my setup however will be changed here in a week or so as soon as the freight company delivers me my ARB front bumper...think I might go back up top again but am not quite sure yet...

NO. I would never put anything on an OEM rack. Those things are pieces. I ripped mine off. And repainted over it. I will probably get a safari rack someday and put it up there.

I might fab up one of these type of trailer hitch mounts...make it where it comes out and rises about 4 or 5 inches...make that it is level with the back bumper...just so that the tailgate does not hit the jack when down...their is a guy that sells these mounts on ebay for like $30..mounts into the trailer hitch...the ones that he sells without a rise looks like it would hang out way too far off the back of the cruiser

There's a way of attaching the hi-lift to the top of the ARB bumper by using ARB's CB mounts. That works pretty well -- I wheel with another forum member has this set up on his 80 -- it's pretty slick.

Oh and I have a 48 one that works just fine. I don't really see the need for the 60 unless you are running tires over 33's or 35's which is what I run.

As my 5 year-old likes to say, "Zip it, lock it, put it in your pocket."

Zip it puppy. As crappy as the OEM rack is, it's strong enough to handle the weight of a hi-lift.

which is it puppy? 33s or 35s?

I have to disagree. Especially if you are using a 60. Those things are really freaking heavy. I guess you don't mind when the car behind you has a hi lift through their winsheild. All im saying is I wouldn't risk it.

I guess heavy is a relative thing. Perhaps you could benefit from some weight training puppy.

...and do you even know what kind of mount I'm talking about...or are you just talking out of you ass again?

Does anyone out there know if the Hi-LIFT 4XRAC will work on a 95 bumper?

(in the accessories area)

Thanks ahead of time. :D :D :D
Sorry about the thread hijack...but the puppy got me a little riled up...

I think the trailer hitch mount that mooker82 shows might be a better option -- that way if someone hits you, it's their fault that they have a large red jack sitting on their hood. :)
